“I’m proud to tell you that was actually my sick idea.”
Addressing rally attendees in Wisconsin Saturday night, President Donald Trump boasted that a controversial plan to bus illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities was his “sick idea,” sending Democrats into a frenzy of outrage.
“Disgusting,” tweeted the Democratic National Committee War Room Twitter account in response to a video of Trump “gleefully” describing his administration’s plan to deal with an influx of migrants at the border.

“Last month alone, 100,000 illegal immigrants arrived at our borders, placing a massive strain on communities and schools and hospitals and public resources, like nobody has ever seen before,” said Trump. “Now, we’re sending many of them through sanctuary cities, thank you very much.”
“They’re not too happy about it!” Trump said. “I’m proud to tell you that was actually my sick idea.”
The Twitter account for the House Homeland Security Committee complained Trump was bragging about using “migrants as human political pawns.”
We’ve found secret footage (seen below) of the President of the United States claiming ownership of what he calls a “sick idea” to use migrants as human political pawns.
Wait.
It’s not secret footage at all.
It’s him bragging about it. At a campaign rally. https://t.co/8n8fVrS1T4

But Trump has argued that his administration’s sanctuary city plan, which caused an uproar among liberals when it was revealed last month, simply gives Democrats’ what they claim they want.
“What did they say?” the president, referencing Democrats’ claims to want to harbor detained immigrants for humanitarian reasons, told his supporters Saturday. “‘We want them.’ I said we’ll give them to you. They said, ‘we don’t want them.’”
The president suggested the reaction to his sanctuary city plan exposed elitist Democrats’ humanitarian posturing on immigration as a politically motivated sham.
“While wealthy liberals preach open borders, they live behind gates and guards. They send their families to the best doctors and private schools,” Trump said.
In mid-April, liberal celebrities, pundits and politicians expressed their displeasure after reports revealed Trump and his administration were weighing the release of immigrant detainees into San Francisco and other sanctuary cities.
Liberal actress and activist Alyssa Milano was among those disturbed by the news, calling the plan “so sick and twisted.” She also accused the White House of “targeting political foes” by releasing detained immigrants into sanctuary cities.
But Trump and conservatives have pushed backed forcefully against such allegations, countering that they come from textbook “NIMBY” liberals – an acronym for so-called “Not In My Backyard” liberals.
“He’s just asking the Democrats to live by their own values,” GOP National spokeswoman Liz Harrington said in a tweet. “Just like they aren’t brave enough to vote for their Green New Socialist Deal, they apparently do not want any more immigrants in their ‘sanctuary’ cities.'”
