Newsweek: ‘MAGA Republicans Pounce’ on Pelosi Husband DUI Story

Perhaps Newsweek somehow hasn’t gotten the message that the word “pounce” as in “Republicans pounce” has become such a laughable cliché that even PoliticoAfter years of ridiculing its overuse, he has thrown it out in favour of “seized”. Last Sunday, Newsweek pulled out the worn cliché to frame their story by Jason Lemon about how Republicans reacted to the arrest of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband for DUI in “MAGA Republicans Pounce After Nancy Pelosi’s Husband Arrested for DUI.”

It wasn’t about Paul Pelosi getting DUI, but rather how Republicans responded or “pounced”.

After news broke that Paul Pelosi had been arrested for DUI in Napa County (California), pro-Trump Republicans attacked Nancy Pelosi as House Speaker.

Quickly, right-wing politicians and commentators responded quickly to the news, attacking Pelosi and criticizing her husband.

…” Don’t drink and drive this Memorial Day weekend. “Save a life. Call an Uber @SpeakerPelosi,” Lauren Boebert of Colorado, wrote Sunday afternoon.

…”How long in jail will Paul Pelosi serve? In a tweet, Brigitte Gabriel wrote that Paul Pelosi had “endangered so many lives with his reckless behaviour.” This would be the #1 story if Trump were his last name.

Nick Adams, a pro Trump author wrote that Paul Pelosi was a “thug” in a Twitter message. He also stated that the Trump Administration should investigate “The Pelosi crime family.”

Mark Levin, a right-wing podcast host/commentator appeared to place the blame for Paul Pelosi’s DUI occurrence on his wife. In a tweet, he said that “Can’t really fault him.”

NewsweekTo the extent it was, he continued to refer to “pouncing” Republicans. Jason Lemon, or perhaps other NewsweekReporters should consult the Thesaurus in order to find a synonym of “pounce”.

Oh, and since “seized” is also about to become a worn cliché as well, perhaps they should cross that off the “pounce” replacement list or risk continued mockery.
