NewsBusters deputy managing editor Nick “Night Train” Fondacaro and I began our week of guest hosting the NewsBusters podcast by highlighting the downfallRT is Kremlin-funded and it’s why you shouldn’t be weeping.
RT (formerly Russia Today) spent many years using hot-button subjects such as Occupy Wall Street and Trump-Russia collusion hysteria. To further increase tensions, RT has used vaccinations, as well as pro-Russian talking-points, to undermine American discourse and destabilize our system for self-governance.
And, while some have rallied to RT’s defense, we noted that opposing RT is part of a long-standing opposition to state-funded media, ranging from NPR in the U.S. to al Jazeera in Qatar. This is the exception. Its propaganda was something far more sinister and amidst an unprovoked war.
We also discussed the heroic journalism done in the field by journalists from networks across the spectrum, such as CBS’s Charlie D’Agata and CNN’s Clarissa Ward. However, there are also areas that the liberal media fail to report on this conflict.
Here’s a hint: A lot of it It has to do energy.
