New Poll and Congressional Dems Sweep the Leg out From Under J6 Committee – Opinion

The Jan. 6 Committee, which was heard on Thursday night, has decided to postpone further hearings until July. The report claims that they have “new tranches of evidence” that they want to look into.

This is a Brooklyn bridge that I would like to offer for sale. The problem is that so far, they haven’t shown anything that is new or that would move the needle. They haven’t achieved their main purpose — to somehow nail President Donald Trump. Bottom line, no one is paying attention. Who wants to bet that they’re putting it off a bit so it’s a little closer to the midterms so they can make do with what they have, while also getting in their time off? Side benefit? The Committee’s decision to take a break is something that many on the Left are excited about.

How do we find out if no one is looking? Our report on the initial night of hearings described it as a disaster. But according to a new poll, it’s gotten worse with the subsequent hearings that were not held in primetime.

A majority of Americans said they didn’t watch the second and third hearings that were held — 62 percent. Just 28 percent reported that they had watched some of the proceedings, while only 11% said they had watched it all.

Who were they watching? Democrats — and likely the folks who have already made up their minds on the matter. Just 32 percent of Independents and 25% of Republicans have seen any of this. So if the point was to change minds or influence people to vote for Democrats and demonize Republicans, they’re pretty much just preaching to the converted

Yet, the media is pitching it as “stunning” (although how it can be so when it’s not presenting anything new is a neat trick).

You know that when they have to work so hard, it’s anything but. If it were stunning, they wouldn’t have to keep trying to convince people of it, people would be watching.

One interview on the subject, however, told the story.

“I have talked with two separate Democratic members of Congress in the last couple of weeks about January 6th…Both of them have said, offhandedly, ‘Nobody gives a bleep about January 6th,’” Politico’s Betsy Woodruff Swan said. Whoops. If they can’t even convince Congressional lawmakers and even Congressional Democrats are blowing it off, plus willing to tell her so, you know that it truly is failing big time. They’re up a creek without a paddle. They’re probably taking a couple of weeks to reevaluate the strategy to see if there’s any way to make this work. The Committee may even be having the opposite effect — convincing the voters that once again Democrats are concentrated on something other than what the people care about. This just reinforces they’re not focused on those concerns like inflation.
