Nets Gush Over McConaughey Gun Control Pleas at The White House

Matthew McConaughey, a Hollywood actor, pleaded with Congress for stricter gun control laws after the massacres at Buffalo and Uvalde. The evening news channels were happy, as per usual, to serve as stenographers of the leftist agenda.

ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening NewsPlease see the following: NBC Nightly NewsAll lead to the McConaughey rant, and ongoing negotiations at Capitol Hill regarding gun control.

ABC’s Capitol Hill correspondent Rachel Scott started off her slanted coverage by gushing over the “impassioned plea from the White House briefing room from academy award-winning actor and Uvalde native Matthew McConaughey.”

In between playing clips of McConaughey’s speech, Scott swooned over him adding that “McConaughey, a proud gun owner, going door-to-door on Capitol Hill lobbying for reform.”

Gabe Gutierrez, NBC’s national correspondent, hyped the news “the White House got a high-profile boost in its push for new gun legislation from actor and Uvalde native Matthew McConaughey.” Before announcing that McConaughey has been “pleading for compromise” on gun control.

While McConaughey was speaking, Nancy Cordes (City White House Correspondent) was on CBS. She also described the atmosphere in the White House Briefing Room. “for about 20 minutes you could have heard a pin drop as Matthew McConaughey spoke about a cause that has suddenly become personal and begged Washington to act.”

Cordes glowingly regurgitated the Hollywood actor’s self-description as not “Republican or Democrat but as aggressively centrist.”

Her claim was: “he came to Washington this week to push for measures that polls show most Americans support, like expanding background checks and raising the minimum purchasing age for semiautomatic weapons from 18 to 21.”

However, when speaking to anchor Norah O’Donnell she revealed that Republican leaders “announced their opposition to a red flag bill in the house that would allow guns to be taken away from people who pose a risk to themselves or to others.”

Norah couldn’t contain her disappointment and scoffed that it was “pretty stunning.”

Chewy on CBS and Ensure (ABC) made it possible for the cheerleading of leftist networks. Liberty Mutual was on NBC. The following links are available.

RACHEL SOTT: A passionate plea from the White House briefing area tonight.

KARINE Jean-PIERRE : Matthew would be a good choice.

SCOTT: Matthew McConaughey, an Academy Award-winning actor from Uvalde.

MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY – Uvalde is Texas where I was raised. There is a school less than 1 mile from Robb elementary. It was where my mother taught kindergarten. Uvalde is where I learned to master a Daisy BB gun. Uvalde was where I learnt responsible gun ownership.

SCOTT: Actor now calling for concrete measures.

MCCONAUGHEY – Background checks are required. The minimum age for purchasing an AR-15 rifle must be increased. These regulations are practical and tactical, but they’re reasonable.

SCOTT: The family of his victim, the school shooter, traveled from Texas to Uvalde. Today, each one of his family members paid tribute to the 21 people who were tragically killed too quickly.

MCCONAUGHEY : Alethia had a dream to attend art school in Paris one day and share her artwork with the rest of the world.

SCOTT: He met the parents of Irma Garcia, a teacher. Joe Garcia, Joe’s husband, died just days after Irma had been killed. His family said he had a broken heart.

MCCONAUGHEY. Then came the love story of Irma and Joe. Their union was the bond that held the family together. They both worked tirelessly to provide for their four children. She used the two-summer’s money to pay for painting the house front. Last summer, the money she had earned was used to paint the sides. The back of the house would be painted with the money she earned this summer. They never had the chance to paint the back of their house because Irma was one the teachers that was killed in class.

SCOTT: McConaughey spoke briefly about Maite Rodriguez (9-years-old) and her signature sneakers. It was shocking to see that the weapon left only her sneakers for authorities to identify her.

MCCONAUGHEY – These were the exact converse she wore on her feet after the shooting. They proved to be the only evidence that allowed her to be identified. Let’s see what you think.

SCOTT: McConaughey is a proud gun owner and goes door to door on Capitol Hill lobbying reform.

NANCY Cordes: Thank you, Norah. Although the White House briefing area is usually a noisy place, today was quiet. Matthew McConaughey, who spoke of a personal cause and begged Washington not to stop, lasted about twenty minutes.

MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY – We are facing a problem in life preservation.

CORDES: Uvalde’s former most prominent resident used this afternoon’s podium to express the pain his home town had felt with him.

MCCONAUGHEY, We make the death of these people matter.

CORDES. His wife Camila carried the shoes belonging to Rodriguez (10-year-old victim), with her. Rodriguez had hand-drawn a heart on the soles of each shoe to signify her love for nature.

MCCONAUGHEY – These were the exact converse she wore on her feet after the shooting. They proved to be the only evidence that allowed her to be identified. Let’s see what you think.

CORDES: Alithia Ramirez’s parents gave Alithia some of her art as a gift.

MCCONAUGHEY

McConaughey is a native of Uvalde where he learned how to shoot. McConaughey has thought about running for Texas office and describes himself as not being Republican or Democrat, but rather as an aggressively centrist.

MCCONAUGHEY, Find a middle ground. It is the area where Americans still live.

CORDES: This week, he visited Washington to advocate for policies that most Americans favor, such as expanding background checks and increasing the minimum age of semiautomatic weapon purchase from 18 to 21.

MCCONAUGHEY. Gun owners who are responsible have grown tired of seeing the Second Amendment misused or hijacked in some cases by deranged persons. These regulations don’t represent a return. They are an important step towards a civil society.

CORDES. However, most Republican leaders have not been influenced by this argument. Today, the leaders of Republican Party voted against a red-flag bill to allow gun owners to take guns from individuals who present a threat to their safety or others. Norah said that the bill would violate Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

NORAH OWENELL: Nancy Cordes, it’s stunning.

GABE GUTIERREZ. Today the White House was given a major boost by Matthew McConaughey, an actor from Uvalde.

MCCONAUGHEY – We now have a window of opportunities that we’ve never had before.

GUTIERREZ. An emotionally charged McConaughey focuses on a pair of replica green shoes that were worn by one the Uvalde massacre’s younger victims. Maite Rodriguez, ten years old.

MCCONAUGHEY. These converses were on her feet and proved to be her only proof of identity at the shoot. Let’s see what you think.

GUTIERREZ – Bipartisan negotiators believe that a gun deal can be struck this week. Democrats do not have the votes to increase the age limit to purchase ar-15-style guns. Negotiators instead focus on stricter background screenings, encouraging states to adopt red flag laws and more money for school security and mental health. McConaughey appeals for compromise.

MCCONAUGHEY. We have to restore American values. Responsible gun ownership is a must. Are both parties able to see past the politics and acknowledge that we face a problem in life preservation?
