We’ve noted what a sorry state the White House communications department has been in recently. Maybe the one thing that has been communicated amidst all their spin and conflict within the White House is that Joe Biden is a mess, and they can’t seem to get their stories straight on what he means.
So, I can’t imagine what it must be like to work for such a debacle of an administration. We noted that some people are heading to the exits, including Vedant Patel, Assistant Press Secretary (going the State Department), Amanda Finney, Press Office Chief (going the Energy Department) and Mike Gwin White House Rapid Response Director (going the Treasury Department).
Now, however, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did more than just give Mike Gwin a thank you in a handshake, she also revealed that another White House staffer was heading to the hills.
“On a sad note, our dear friend and colleague Michael Gwin will be leaving us for Treasury, where he will serve as deputy assistant secretary for Public Affairs,” Jean-Pierre said. “Gwin has served as the White House director of Rapid Response for the past 16 months, responding to the most challenging and difficult issues imaginable. Yet amidst these often emotionally wrenching stories, Gwin’s poise and moral clarity are unfailing, and his willingness and ability to step up has made him an indispensable member of the team.”
“And joining Gwin at the Treasury Department will be our very own Michael Kikukawa, where he will serve as a spokesperson,” she continued. “Michael, better known here to all of you, to all of us, as Kiku, has served not just as a press assistant, but as the strong engine and reliable engine at the press shop. His relentless work ethic and dedication to the mission of this team have been second to none.”
Jen Psaki was the White House Press Secretary before she left in May to start her new job with MSDNC.
Our brethren over at Townhall wished a hearty farewell and won’t miss you to Gwin.
Back in December, Townhall outlined how Gwin flagged stories and videos from Townhall that cast Biden and his administration in an accurate, but negative light, urging “independent” fact-checkers to launch biased attacks against our coverage.
Gwin’s next job will be deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Treasury Department, whatever that means.
They note it doesn’t exactly look like a move upward.
People are running for their lives, literally and metaphorically, as the ship sinks fast.
On Tuesday, Jean Pierre delivered this ridiculous remark — “What we’re trying to say, what I’m trying to say to you, is that the economy is in a better place than it has been historically.”

What is better than this? What is the middle of depression? These responses are so pathetic, does anyone still take them seriously?
She then beat it to the White House Press Corps after just 10 minutes.

You could hear at least one reporter saying, “Guys, we need a longer briefing.” Even they have had enough with all this.
