In the midst of the January 6th Committee’s continued failure to do what it set out to do (“Get Trump!”) as well as their trotting out of third-hand hearsay “witnesses” and deliberately excluding Actual witnesses who have reportedly said they are willing to counter said “bombshell” testimony, purported Republican and prominent committee member Liz Cheney (Wyo.) has been on a tour of sorts in an effort to salvage what’s left of her reputation.
Her first stop this week was via an “interview” with sympathetic ABC News “reporter” Jon Karl, who just so happens to have skin in this game as well considering he published a heavily-pimped book in November 2021 (now half off at Amazon) about Trump and the Capitol riot. As we previously reported, however, Cheney told on herself a bit by suggesting part of the committee’s responsibilities were to defend “witness” Cassidy Hutchinson’s character from attack, when the committee’s real responsibilities are to get to the truth, not coddle select people who testify before them.
In a scheduled “Time for Choosing” speech Cheney gave at the Reagan Library later, things didn’t go any better. Though Cheney did get a standing ovation prior to her speech from what was likely a mixture of establishment Republicans and Never Trumpers as well as the Democrats she’s calling on to help support her in what is shaping up to be a tough re-election battle, some things she proclaimed as she spoke to the crowd just defied all logic.
Most notably, Cheney commended the supposed “bravery and patriotism” she said was on display by Hutchinson, comments Cheney made in the context of telling young women how valuable their contributions to society are and suggesting their leadership is needed now more than ever considering “men are running the world and it is really not going well”:
“Her superiors, men many years older, a number of them are hiding behind executive privilege, anonymity, and intimidation,” Cheney said of Hutchinson. “But her bravery, and her patriotism yesterday, were awesome to behold.”

“Little girls all across this great nation are seeing what it really means to love this country and what it really means to be a patriot,” Cheney said, referring to Hutchinson who sat for several closed-door interviews with the panel before appearing publicly.
