After spending much of Biden’s term in relative hiding, Kamala Harris has made a lot of news lately. It hasn’t been good for Kamala Harris.
From blowing up on podcast hosts to claims that racism and sexism are driving her approval down, it’s been one conflict after another for the vice president. And to put it mildly, she’s handled none of it well. That’s probably why she’s doing an interview on CBS News this Sunday. You should always be ready for the worst news when all other options fail.
While most of the interview remains under embargo until further notice, some snippets are now available. Harris was asked in one interview what her top national security concern is. She gives a dark picture of herself in her answer.
CBS interview with VP:
“BRENNAN – What is your biggest national security concern? What is the thing that worries you & keeps you up at night?
HARRIS: Honestly, our democracy is one. Because it’s not classified, I can discuss that.— Josh Kraushaar (@HotlineJosh) December 23, 2021
Personally, I find this idea of our “democracy” being in grave danger from domestic threats to not only be dumb, but dangerous. When a government begins to spin a narrative that it must be given more power to target its own citizens under the guise of “protecting” itself, that never leads anywhere good.
It is also utter nonsense. Jan 6th, 2001 was just a passing blip that disappeared as fast as it came. It did not and does not represent some ever-present danger lurking to bring down our “democracy” (besides, we are a republic, but I digress). Democrats act nakedly political by continuing to portray a system of government that is on the brink of collapse. They can save it only by legislating an enormous federal takeover of election results.
Past that, Harris’ answer shows the distinct idiocy with which she so routinely operates. Contrary to her claims, there are many threats to national security outside the United States’ borders. China is the most prominent. This communist country continues to invade freedom all over the world, both militarily as well as via predatory loan programs that essentially subjugate countries such South America and Africa. It is an act of dereliction to duty for a vice-president not to list China in a question regarding national security threats.
But perhaps she simply has no idea what she’s talking about? Notice that she once again uses the excuse that she can’t discuss national security issues because they are “classified.” Now, I’m not that old, but I’m old enough to remember past vice presidents having no issue discussing foreign policy with the press. When Harris is asked questions in that realm, though, she continually claims she doesn’t have the legal power to talk about it. That’s a garbage excuse and points to fact that she’s unprepared to discuss such serious issues.
