Smollett Lawyer Sued for Claiming Nigerian Brothers Attacked Jussie to Hide Gay Love

“I think it was the older brother testing the younger brother.”

The Osundairo brothers sued Jussie Smollett’s lawyers on Tuesday for allegedly defaming them – including, they said, by suggesting one of them had sex with the actor.

In the federal lawsuit, Ambidola and Olabinjo Onsundairo faulted Mark Geragos and associate Tina Glandian for publicly accusing them of assaulting Smollett in Chicago on Jan. 29. The reality, they reiterated, is that Smollett paid them to stage the fake hate crime in a desperate bid for publicity.

The brothers took particular issue with Glandian’s numerous media appearances, during which she went as far as to suggest they wore “whiteface” during the attack.

“As a result of Ms. Glandian’s comments, Plaintiffs have suffered significant emotional distress and feel unsafe and alienated in their local Chicago community. This is because Ms. Glandian, a very famous attorney, falsely and publicly stated Plaintiffs have committed a gruesome hate crime, lied under oath, and intentionally misled CPD,” they said in the lawsuit.

On the”Reasonable Doubt” podcast, which is hosted by Geragos and comedian Adam Carolla, the brothers said that Glandian claimed Smollett had slept with Ambidola Onsundairo, aka Bola or Abel. That insinuation caused him severe distress because he is straight, was dating a woman at the time and visits him family in Nigeria, where where same-sex activity is illegal and can result in 14 years in prison or “death by stoning” if the accused is married, they said.

“Ms. Glandian’s globally broadcasted statements that Bola Osundairo is homosexual endangers him and the lives of his Nigerian family,” according to the lawsuit.

In fact, on the April 6 podcast episode, Glandian strongly suggested that the brothers are homophobic, citing their tweets and supposed comments. She then proposed that Ola Osundairo, aka Ola, suspected his younger brother of being in a sexual relationship with Smollett and forced him to attack the actor to prove he wasn’t gay:

About 10 days before the incident, Abel actually spent the night at Jussie’s place, and my theory at least is that the older brother, who lived with Abel, saw that his younger brother didn’t come home, started wondering what this relationship really is. And keep in mind Abel is also playing the role on the show, he’s the stand in for Jussie’s love interest. And so I think, it’s one thing he’s playing this character, now he’s hanging out with this openly gay man, and now he spent the night there. So I think he starts thinking to himself: What’s really going on here? …

So just to finish that, I think it was kind of a test, the older brother testing the younger brother. You know, they’re leaving for Nigeria, and I think he wants to make sure he understands this relationship and it’s not what he fears it might be.

Glandian also claimed on the podcast that the body-building duo engaged in illegal steroid trafficking, which they have denied.

According to the brothers, who worked as extras on “Empire,” the Fox TV show on which Smollett starred: “Mr. Smollett used his clout as a wealthy actor to influence Plaintiffs, who were in a subordinate relationship to him and were aspiring to ‘make it’ in Hollywood.”

They added: “Mr. Smollett’s motivation was simple. He wanted his employer and the public to notice and appreciate him as a successful black, openly gay actor. So, Mr. Smollett directed every aspect of the attack, including the location and the noose.”

The brothers told the same story to Chicago police, who determined it was true. In February, they charged Smollett with filing a false police report claiming to have been jumped by bigoted Trump supporters – embarrassing him and his many prominent supporters.

In a controversial move last month, the Cook County state’s attorney’s office dropped all charges against Smollett after he paid $10,000 and performed community service. At least two investigations of that decision have since been opened.

Meanwhile, Smollett, his family and his lawyers have continued to insist that he is an innocent victim who was attacked by the brothers.

The brothers are seeking unspecified damages.
