It’s Now or Never for The Planet! ABC & NBC Panic Over Climate Change

On Monday night, ABC’s World News TonightAnd NBC Nightly News did all they could to carry water for the radical environmentalists on the far left by hyping a United Nations (UN) report stating the world has eight years to cut emissions in half to “avoid catastrophic climate change” even suggesting to their viewers that they should switch to a “plant-based diet.”

On NBC, Lester Holt was the anchor who initiated the hyperbolic segment and then handed it over to Anne Thompson (chief environmental affairs correspondent). “It’s now or never for the world to make deep cuts in greenhouse gas emissions as we face the prospect of an unlivable Earth” Holt fretted.

Thompson continued where Holt was left when it comes to climate fearmongering. The hysterical correspondent announced that Thompson had a new assignment. “the U.N. Says there’s still time to avoid the worst impacts of climate change previewed by last year’s wildfires and hurricanes. But we have to move fast.”

She then parroted the U.N.’s talking points and pseudo-solutions which claimed “we must stop increasing greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. Then swiftly cut them, 43 percent by the end of the decade.”

Thompson made a ridiculous suggestion. “people must switch to a low carbon lifestyle including a plant-based diet” As if that wasn’t dumb enough, she kept going by suggesting Americans who can barely afford to fill up their cars because of the Biden administration’s current energy policies, should instead but an expensive electric vehicle to save the planet. “The cost of electric car batteries down 85 percent, too. That, the report says, is a huge opportunity to slash emissions if the power for electric vehicles comes from renewable sources.”

Thompson called John Kerry, the Biden Administration Climate Envoy to inquire if Biden was being enough environmentally-friendly at the end.

THOMPSON – Is President Biden reversing his climate pledges and suggesting we increase our fossil fuel production?

JOHN KERRY (NOT): The President isn’t backing down in any way. Actually, he is asking us to double down on our efforts and ask for more. This is what he did in his budget. It’s all part of his government approach.

ABC’s segment on the alleged “climate crisis” was much shorter and less deranged, yet anchor David Muir still felt the need to needlessly frighten his viewers:

DAVID MURIR: This is the U.N.’s alarming report on climate change. According to 278 scientists, the report warns that we have to reduce emissions by approximately half within eight years if we want to stop catastrophic climate changes. They already estimate that 25% of Amazon’s land mass could disappear by the end the next decade. Report recommends a gradual elimination of fossil fuels, and the replacement with renewable energy by fossil fuel infrastructure.

If the largest polluting countries like India and China refuse to make changes, even if human beings could affect the climate in some way, it would be futile for Americans to insist on them changing their lifestyle.

LESTER HOLT – A U.N. major climate report has been released tonight. It contains a clear warning. It’s now or never for the world to make deep cuts in greenhouse gas emissions as we face the prospect of an unlivable Earth. Anne Thompson has more details.

ANNE THOMPSON: The U.N. Says there’s still time to avoid the worst impacts of climate change previewed by last year’s wildfires and hurricanes. However, we must move quickly.

ANTONIO GUTERRES: The jury reached a verdict. It is shocking.

THOMPSON. The U.N. Roadmap for avoiding disaster states we have to stop increasing greenhouse gases emissions by 2025. Then reduce these emissions quickly, at 43 percent before the end the decade.

BOB WARD (Grantham Research Institute). Fossil fuels drive climate change. They must be eliminated as soon as possible.

THOMPSON: People must adopt a low-carbon lifestyle, including switching to a plant-based diet that produces less waste and using renewable energy which is now more affordable than ever. In the last decade, wind costs have fallen 5% and solar 85%. Electric car batteries are also at a 85 percent discount. The report claims that this is a great opportunity to cut emissions. If the electricity for electric vehicles comes out of renewable sources, it will be a significant reduction in greenhouse gasses. Although President Biden pledged to reduce U.S. emissions by half, he has not yet achieved that goal. Emissions in half by 2030, with gas prices rising he’s encouraged a short-term increase in oil production and more natural gas exports to move Europe away from Russian fuel. John Kerry, Climate Envoy.

Are President Biden and his Climate Commitments being rescinded by suggesting we increase our fossil fuel production?

JOHN KERRY (NOT): The President isn’t backing down in any way. Actually, he is asking us to double down on our efforts and ask for more. This is what he did in his budget. It’s all part of his government approach.

THOMPSON: A world at crossroads in climate. Anne Thompson, NBC News, London.
