On Wednesday, CNN’s Neue DayFor a brief moment, we stopped repeating old Trump news long enough. Trustworthy Sources host Brian Stelter to mention his colleague Chris Cuomo’s suspension from CNN. New records on Monday revealed that Cuomo may have been even more involved in the cover-up of sexual harassment accusations against Andrew Cuomo. CNN suspended Cuomo indefinitely Tuesday night, as a result of further investigations. Anderson Cooper spent less than one minute to announce Cuomo’s suspension.
After reading CNN’s official statement on the suspension Wednesday morning, Stelter spun the situation as “complicated,” failing to mention the heinous allegations against Andrew Cuomo that his CNN anchor brother zealously worked to cover up:
Media critics have condemned Chris Cuomo and are calling for CNN to do something. There are some CNN colleagues who hate Chris Cuomo and want to see him punished. There are many viewers who still love Chris Cuomo, but they’re upset that he isn’t on the air. It’s not easy to find relief without feeling disappointed. It is complicated.
It’s not that complicated – Cuomo abused his prime time position at a major media outlet to do damage control and research his brother’s accusers, along with other networks, that he feared would expose him.
Perhaps such a “complicated” issue should have merited a segment longer than 2 minutes 7 seconds in all of Neue Day’s three-hour program. The show’s opening segment spent 13 minutes and nine seconds hyping old news about the timeline of Trump’s bout with COVID-19 in September and October of 2020. John Berman, Brianna Keilar and Brianna Kailar spent total 34 minutes and nine second discussing the disease of a former President more than a decade ago. Of course, for CNN, continuing to bash Trump takes priority over doing actual reporting on a powerful colleague’s misconduct and journalistic malpractice.
Although Stelter appeared downcast over Cuomo’s removal, he seemed hopeful that the suspension would be brief, suggesting that “It’s possible he will be on the bench for several weeks. It’s possible he’ll be back in January.”
If CNN’s response to Cuomo is anything like its pathetic response to Jeffrey Toobin, Cuomo will be back in mere months (or less) with no additional consequences for his despicable actions.

Neue Day
12/1/21
7.52.17 amJOHNBERMAN: CNN has suspended anchor Chris Cuomo and his colleague indefinitely. New documents show that his involvement in shaping defenses for Andrew Cuomo’s brother revealed more than was previously believed. Andrew Cuomo is a former New York governor who has been accused of sexual misconduct. Brian Stelter is now joining me with more news about this — Brian.
BRIAN STELTER (Yes, there are some updates about John’s house. Chris, who was formerly a co-anchor on New Day but is now CNN’s primetime host, one of the top-rated CNN hosts. This has been a long-awaited event. Cuomo has been in the news for the past year due to his brother’s scandal and the scandal surrounding former governor. Chris Cuomo had been known to be giving advice and talking to his brother. But in the newly-released documents you can see that Chris Cuomo is essentially working as an unpaid adviser — an aide — as if he is a staffer of the governor’s — giving political advice, giving commentary. Additionally, he is using his own sources in an effort to uncover more details about his brother.
CNN’s overnight statement about suspension reads: “When Chris confessed to us that his brother had given him advice, we broke our rules, and we publicly acknowledge it.” However, we appreciated Chris’ unique circumstances and appreciated that he understood how important it was to place family before work. We now know that his brother is involved at a higher level than we knew. We have therefore suspended Chris indefinitely pending further investigation.
That’s it from CNN executives overnight. John, it’s a bit complex to see what is going on. There are media critics who have condemned Chris and called on CNN to do something. Some colleagues at CNN were furious at Chris Cuomo’s actions and demanded that the network take action. However, there are many viewers that love Chris Cuomo. There’s some relief and also disappointment. It is complicated. Cuomo remains on the bench at the moment, which I believe is the best decision. The holiday season is approaching. It’s possible that he may be out of town for several weeks. He could return in January. However, CNN will be conducting a deeper review of New York’s attorney general document dump to learn more.
BERMAN – Brian Stelter, we are grateful
STELTER: Thanks.
BERMAN – Thank you so much.
