On MSNBC’s The 11th Hour, host Stephanie Ruhle proved she has no sense of irony when she whined that Republican Senators won’t follow Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT)’s lead and vote for Biden Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson based on her being qualified to sit on the high court.
Ruhle started off by reading from Romney’s statement which he issued on Monday announcing he would join his fellow moderate Republican Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski in voting for Jackson, “while I do not expect to agree with every decision she may make on the court, I believe that she more than meets the standard of excellence and integrity.”
Ruhle, now acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal turned to him and he whined. “should that not be the standard for all the Senators?”
“One hundred percent, Stephanie,” Katyal exclaimed. Katyal insisted, claiming that he had “enormous respect for the court”And accused Republicans of feeling different “today’s vote by the Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee all eleven voting against her tell me that they don’t share that same respect about the Supreme Court.”
“I mean that Senate vote was ridiculous. It amounted to Republicans saying, we’ll never confirm someone who’s not Republican. They basically said the quiet part out loud,”Katyal hooped. “And I’m so glad to see Senators Romney, Murkowski, and Collins stand up to this. As someone who has done what Collins, Murkowski, Romney did, you know that I am adamant.”
Credit where it’s due, Katyal did claim he supported Neil Gorsuch when Trump appointed him: “you know, I supported Neil Gorsuch much to the chagrin of many of your viewers. However, I believed he was qualified. And he was replacing Justice Scalia, so he wasn’t moving the court far in one direction.”
I have said everything.

Ruhle responded to this video tweet by Ruhle (above) in an attempt to clarify her remarks. Ruhle claimed she was referring to Senators from both political parties when she stated “all the Senators”. It sounded as though she was referring to all Republican Senators, despite the fact that it was clear from the conversation. Ruhle has a history that includes denigring Republican Supreme Court nominees, and lobbying for their destruction on air.

Eastern, 11:32:23STEPHANIE ROHLE: Neal. Now let’s talk about Ketanji Jackson’s confirmation. Cause I want to share part of Mitt Romney’s statement today where he says, quote while I do not expect to agree with every decision she may make on the court, I believe that she more than meets the standard of excellence and integrity. This should not be the standard that all Senators must follow.
NEAL KATYAL, Former Acting Solicitor-General: Stephanie, one hundred percent. As you know, I have argued 45 cases before the Supreme Court. The court is a source of great respect to me. However, the Republicans of the Senate Judiciary Committee, all 11 voting against her today, tells me they have a different view about the Supreme Court. That was absurd. It amounted to Republicans saying, we’ll never confirm someone who’s not Republican. It was like they were shouting the loudest part. Lindsey Graham. These people tried to destroy the Supreme Court. They’ve tried to ruin our crown jewel. This is why I am so happy to see Collins and Senators Murkowski and Romney standing up against it. This is because I did the same thing as Collins, Murkowski and Romney. To the dismay of many viewers, I supported Neil Gorsuch. However, I believed he was qualified. Even though he was replacing Justice Scalia’s seat, I felt he had the right qualifications. In fact, he may have made the court more liberal. Justice Jackson has replaced Justice Breyer. Hard to tell the difference. Ted Cruz and others may have portrayed her as extremist. That’s ridiculous. It’s absurd.
She’s supported by every major cop’s organization in the country. They claim she’s soft on child pornography. Fox News analysts debunked the claim. Andrew McCarthy of Fox News and other Fox News analysts. It’s ridiculous. These votes are so wonderful. This week she will become Justice Jackson. The country and court will benefit greatly.
