Hayes & Maddow Melt Down When News Breaks SCOTUS Might Overturn Roe

Following the bombshell report from Politico that according to a leaked draft of a Supreme Court decision which was written in February, the Supreme Court appears poised to strike down Roe vs Wade. MSNBC host Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow and others were in a panic over whether the states could decide whether abortion should be legal.

The news broke at the end of Chris Hayes’s hour and during the handoff to Rachel Maddow, the two pro-abortion leftists discussed the news with each other. “I am absorbing this right now, as you are talking about it. Chris, this is as far as—you and I both need time to process this then is afforded by the fact that we’re live on television right now,”Maddow claimed that Hayes gave the network over to her and she was ready to start her program.

Prior to discussing the apparent decision Hayes, Maddow and others mentioned the unprecedented nature of a Supreme Court decision leaking from the court. “Both the substance of what is being leaked, here in then the communicative signaling happening in the fact of the leak, is almost sort of emotional at some deep level, because of what it signifies,”Hayes noted.

Maddow cried over the idea that Roe Vs Wade might be set aside by the Court. “You were just speaking with Erin CarmonYou said that you had booked her today for a discussion about the latest reporting from Washington. A six-week abortion ban, which is effectively a complete ban on abortion in the United States.”

She worried about the possibility that Republicans would win both the Houses of Congress and the Presidency in 2024. “South America-style nationwide abortion ban in America.” Chris Hayes also agreed to shout that “it would be the first bill”Republicans pass the Congress.

Maddow, like the Democrat Party propagandist she is, sought to turn the midterms in 2022 into a referendum about abortion. She strategized that way. “putting whichever party in control of either house of Congress will among other things determine whether we’re about to become a country that bans abortion nationwide.”

Hayes appeared to regurgitate leftist transgender terminology. “pregnant person”You could live in a state which bans abortion, if the court so decides.

Maddow ended the discussion by expressing her astonishment that the court would dare to consider touching the left’s abortion sacrament: “it is shocking both in substance and it is also shocking in terms of what it means about the court, and what it means about the stakes here that someone is willing to do this.”

This is how you imagine it. It is truly vile.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show

CHRIS HAYES : Okay, once again. I am just sort of writing this down as I go. This is it for tonight. Rachel Maddow ShowIt all starts now, Rachel.

RACHEL MADOOW: As you’re talking about this, I am also absorbing it. Chris, this is as far as—you and I both need time to process this then is afforded by the fact that we’re live on television right now. We do not agree with the notion that the draft ruling we saw was ever released to the press.

HAYES: This is what I understand, Politico seems to indicate — it’s always difficult to prove negatives, but that’s my belief. And I believe you, who both are SCOTUS fans and have had a long-standing interest in the court, agree with this interpretation. This is a kind of resting point, since the codeofamarta that surrounds that institution, which is so strong and so powerful is that both the substance of the leakage, and the communicative signaling that is taking place in the event of the leak is almost emotionally charged at some deeply personal level because of its meaning.

MADDOW : That’s right. And, Erin Carmon said, while you were speaking to her, that she had booked you today to speak about the new reports by Republicans in Washington. They have been discussing and planning to propose a nationwide ban on abortion. The United States has a six-week ban on abortion, effectively banning all abortions. If the ruling by the court looks anything like this and there is an election season in which the Republicans will take both the House and Senate, then the President Biden would still be President Biden and he would likely veto any such measure. If we had a Republican president, 2024 would be a year in which we could have an American-style national abortion ban.

HAYES: Just to be clear, it would be and I can’t– you know, no one knows the future, you and I agree it would be the first bill. It’d be the first bill. It would be HR1 for the House, and S1 in Senate. There is no question that this would be the first bill of a Republican triofecta in a post-roe landscape. No question.

MADDOW. And because this information is now being leaked, whatever the ruling may be, we’ll have it before the November elections. This is a similar four-number Sodoku. It isn’t difficult.

HAYES: It is also important to note that this was something you covered as much as any other television news anchor. I believe there are 25 or 26 states with trigger laws. This means that abortion is illegal in that one instant if roe is struck down. This is not some process that’s going to play out. As a pregnant individual or as someone who plans to become pregnant, you could live in an area that is watching the proceedings. Your state’s law states that the court ruling means that the state has declared abortion illegal.

MADDOW: And as we’ve seen abortion politics, particularly in Republican-controlled states get harder and harder and harder line, over a very short timeline. We’ve seen that doctors are likely to go to prison as they get closer to knowing this ruling is coming.

They’re now saying in some states that doctors can go to jail. More importantly, even though there wasn’t a ban on saying that women or children who have been raped or are the victims of incest were not allowed to become pregnant against their wishes, they won’t be forced or coerced by government officials to do so. This includes girls who have been raped or incest. These exceptions disappear one at a time, each week that a Republican legislative addresses the issue. And, so we are now at the precipice of something that’s become a much more extreme prospect, becoming exceedingly likely. The cliff is approaching at the same speed for both the pragmatic and radicalism.

HAYES: Oklahoma signed a law that is very similar to Texas’s just a few minutes ago. Ohio proposed legislation. This is just a viral sound made by the Ohio state senator talking about how it’s acceptable for a women who was a victim to rape or incest to get forced to give birth to a baby.

It is something many have fought for, fought against and worried about over the years. I’m not sure what to do. It is not surprising that you covered the topic better than anyone on TV, as people who watch the court know.

People were wrong to think that this was the result they expected. They listen to oral arguments and the fact they asked for roe to be overturned, something they weren’t required to. It was clear that the justices wanted to take the apple, and they were chomping on the oral arguments. It is not surprising that this opinion draft is available online.

MADDOW : This is shocking. As you mentioned and we discussed here, this is both shocking and shocking. It’s a stunning thing.
