Gavin Newsom’s Plan to Model California Gun Control Bill After Texas Abortion Law Just Happened – Opinion

I can only imagine (no, really) the challenges faced by conservative Californians — I know many of them, personally — on a daily basis, living in the whacked-out, no-longer-golden, People’s Republic of Kalifornia, particularly with an arrogant, self-adoring, left-wing governor like Gavin Newsom.

My sympathy is with you people. Your support is always there and will continue to be.

So, Newsom — ever the gun-grabber — in December, laid out one of the most ridiculous plans I’ve ever seen from this guy, and there have been many, pledging to empower private citizens to enforce a ban on the manufacture and sale of so-called “assault weapons” — although my personal favorite and most hilarious is “weapons of war” — in the state, citing the same authority claimed by conservative lawmakers in Texas to outlaw most abortions once a heartbeat is detected.

As reported by NPR, California has banned the manufacture and sale of many ridiculously misnomered “assault-style” weapons for decades. In June, a federal judge ruled that the ban was invalid. Newsom won, as it was obvious. After receiving the shocking news, California Democrat legislators instantly burst into fits of hyperbole.

EvenMore incensing to angered Democrats was the judge’s comparison of the popular AR-15 to a Swiss Army knife as “good for both home and battle.” The ban remains in place while the Democrat-controlled state appeals the ruling.

Newsom introduced new legislation in December. Here’s a brilliant nugget of NewsomLogic™ if there ever was one, as transcribed by NPR:

If states can now shield their laws from review by the federal courts that compare assault weapons to Swiss Army knives, then California will use that authority to protect people’s lives, where Texas used it to put women in harm’s way.

[No, nimrod — Texas “used it” to put a yuuge dent in the idiscriminate, on-demand murder of pre-born children.]

We should add private lawsuits to the mix if we want to prevent these deadly weapons from reaching our streets.

When you have stopped laughing, let me know. You good? OK, so here’s the thing, right out of the chute.

Newsom and California State Assembly Democrats are trying to disingenuously compare the abortion-prevention apples with gun-grabber Oranges. They are absurdly suggesting that gun manufacturers should be held responsible for bad men using guns.

It is almost like implying Ford Motor Company was involved in the murder of six people by driving his Ford Escape through Waukesha’s Christmas Parade.

Anyway, Newsom’s generalized plan came together in the form of legislation, last week, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. (Emphasis, mine.)

Assembly Bill 1594 will give the Democrat-controlled State, Local Governments, power. gun violence survivors and victims’ families the power to pursue legal action against “Manufacturers of guns who are reckless, negligent or irresponsible, importers and dealers,” said Assemblyman Phil Ting of San Francisco, one of three Democrats pushing the plan.

The proposal predates the Texas bill and replicates a 2021 New York gun control law that targets manufacturers, Ting said, but still “Gets at the heart of the governor’s call.”

Ting lied the same lie Democrats always lie: “This puts the power back into the hands of the people.”

To do what? To sue gun manufacturers for the crimes they committed ZEROIs there any responsibility for causing the problem, or even how to stop it? The power to drive up the cost of firearms for law-abiding gun owners because manufacturers would be forced to carry liability insurance — no doubt mega-expensive — and incur other costs they don’t now have? Power to make firearm manufacturers go out of business to please the gun-grabbers.

This clowns cannot understand the reason Californians have fled to Texas and other States in record numbers.

You can find more information in the L.A. Times

The bill would leverage a loophole in federal law that largely shields gun manufacturers and dealers from liability when their products are involved in a crime.

[C]State regulations still make sellers and buyers liable. AB 1594 aims at holding them accountable. It requires thorough background checks, as well as a prohibition on selling firearms to anyone who is not allowed to own one.

The proposed law would ensure distributors and manufacturers are not causing a “public nuisance” with their products or “engaging in unfair business practices.”

Said Assemblymember Phil Ting, to “clarify”:

We are simply trying to hold gun manufacturers accountable for any harm they do to our streets everyday in California.

It is our belief that manufacturers, distributors, and importers will have a greater sense of responsibility, which will result in safer streets.

SMDH (Shaking my damn head). Another giddy bunch of unlogical crap. But, hey — Gavin Newsom. California Democrat lawmakers.

It’s easy to sum up. Me, too.
