According to Nielsen Media Research, no one seemed to care as she drew fewer viewers than shows like Food Network’s America’s Worst Cooks, Game Show Network’s Chain reaction, TLC’s My 600 Pound LifestyleYou can also watch reruns Andy Griffith Show.
Needless to say, we’re not surprised that few seemed to tune in for a nightly dose of her penchant for spewing venom against just about anyone who disagrees with her. If they want fear porn about your conservative coworker or spouse, they probably watch MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace instead.
Overall, Nielsen pegged Keilar’s average viewership from Monday-Wednesday as a paltry 542,000 total viewers and 149,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo.
However, her average show so far was Wednesday which attracted 559,000 viewers total and 161,000 demo. She was far behind other shows on that day and beyond Fox News programs.
TLC’s My 600 Pound Lifestyle Keilar defeated in direct head-tohead, more than twice the amount. The demo attracted 883,000 total viewers (326,000) and a record breaking 883,000 viewership.
Staying on the reality TV genre, Lifetime’s Get married at the First SiteKeilar was demolished, drawing in 1.2 million viewers total and 443,000 from the 25-54 age group.
Food Network has even more information America’s Worst CooksKeilar was less appealing to viewers. He beat Keilar with 6991,000 viewers total and 263,000 viewers for the demo audience.
Here’s a sampling of other reality/non-fiction shows that outdrew Keilar: Discovery’s Growing Belushi and Moonshiners, GSN’s People Puzzler and Chain Reaction (in total viewers only), Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games, HGTV’s Home Town, House Hunters,Property Brothers: Forever homeAnd Fixer Upper: Welcome HomeMagnolia Network, formerly called DIY Network.
Scripted shows weren’t any better. BET’s SistasIt aired alongside Keilar, and was just shy of one million viewers with 999,000 total viewers. The demo had 404,000 viewers.
And reminding us of how newer isn’t always better, a reair of Andy Griffith ShowTV Land Classic, reruns 1950s Westersns and TV Land Classic: 623,000 viewers total and 155,000 demo Cheyenne, Gunsmoke, Wagon TrainSimilar results were achieved by INSP.
Not surprisingly, Keilar’s numbers ran behind Cuomo’s final months in November (774,000 total viewersAnd 170,000 in the demo)And December’s CNN Tonight with Michael Smerconish (661,000 total viewers and 140,000 in the demo).
Keilar’s show hasn’t even been popular on the days they’ve aired. According to our friend RoadMN, Keilar’s show ranked 14th among CNN shows on Monday and Wednesday and fourth on TuesdayTotal views 11th on Monday, second on TuesdayAnd sixth on WednesdayIn the demo.
No matter how you slice it, things aren’t going well for her and the divisive, snarky kind of politics she espouses (masquerading as news).
That act normally wouldn’t fly in the eyes of any reasonable executive worth spending millions to make permanent, but given the way Jeff Zucker has operated, it wouldn’t be surprising if Keilar and Democracy in Peril receive the permanent nod.
