Mom Accused of Giving Her 6-Year-Old a Black Eye Says Her One-Year-Old Baby Did It: He’s a ‘Bully’

A Texas mom who told police her one-year-old baby was responsible for injuries to her six-year-old son was rearrested last week.

Etta Simmons, 28, was first arrested in Nov. 2017 for injury to a child, NBC affiliate KFDX reported.

Authorities became involved after her 6-year-old son arrived at school with a bruised eye.

He told officials that his mother hit him because he misbehaved.

Simmons told authorities she didn’t know how the boy got the black eye. But she speculated that her younger child, whom she said was a “bully” was the culprit.

The 6-year-old also told officials that his mother tried to cover the bruise with make-up before sending him to school.

Simmons admitted to trying to conceal the black eye out of fear of getting in trouble.

She bonded out after her initial arrest. But, according to prosecutors, Simmons never showed up for her pretrial hearing.

Following her rearrest last week, Simmons bonded out again and was released.
