An old proverb says that the enemy of your enemy is your friend. And thus, as Democrats aggressively marked the anniversary of the January 6 riot to condemn Donald Trump, MSNBC took a moment to praise Liz and Dick Cheney and Karl Rove for taking a stand with the Democrats in condemning the riot. Like other Republicans wouldn’t.
For the Pelosi-organized commemoration of the riot anniversary, the House was the only place where the Cheneys and Rove were present. And Rove penned a Wall Street JournalAn opinion piece condemning the riots and insisting that the Republicans should not minimize them. The article concluded with:
There can’t be soft-pedaling of what has happened or an absolution for those involved in the plot to overthrow democracy.
Claire McCaskill (ex-Democrat) was the leader of the march to recognize their Strange New Respect.
“If someone would have told me that ten years ago,You know what? Your appearance on TV,It’s going to be all praise for Dick Cheney or Karl RoveI say “no, no,” because I do not believe that it will happen. It will never happen again to me, ever. Yet, I am here.
McCaskill knew that McCaskill wouldn’t like this idea because the network has a liberal audience. mea culpaWallace and Heilemann burst into laughter at her praises for Rove and Cheney.
Wallace was next, nodding at her audience and saying:
“My sense of the location of our viewers is very good. It’s hard to believe that anyone could be more accountable for all the negative things viewers thought about Bush’s foreign policy.Dick Cheney however, was the sole person to express respect for the building. Today is one year since the attack on America. The building in which the attack took place was home to Dick Cheney, a Republican who was not Liz Cheney. Claire: That is how terrible the Republicans really are.
Many Republicans attended a service in memory of former senator Johnny Isakson. Pelosi was invited to the memorial service for former Sen. Johnny Isakson of Georgia. MSNBC wanted to make it seem like only Democrats loved “the building.”
Later, Wallace expressed skepticism as to Rove’s true beliefs, given “where [he]”Is employed”—the hated Fox News Channel.
John Heilemann (MSNBC contributor) made his obligatory bow before MSNBC’s left-leaning audience.
“I’m sure that a lot viewers hate her positions on other topics.”—but [Liz Cheney]She is anti-Trumpism, not only.
Notable: Adam Kinzinger was not present at the House celebrations yesterday, meaning that the two Cheneys, another Republican chosen by Pelosi, were the only Republicans. Although tweeting That he was present “in spirit”,He begged, explaining that he was “on Baby Watch.”
On Nicolle Wallace’s MSNBC show, Wallace, Claire McCaskill, and John Heilemann in essence apologizing to the liberal audience for praising Liz and Dick Cheney and Karl Rove was sponsored in part by Carfax and Ensure.

4:00 PM ETCLAIRE MCCASKILL You know what someone would say to you ten years back? That you will be on TV and praising Dick Cheney or Karl Rove. [Nicolle Wallace bursts into laughter]I say “no, no,” because I do not believe that it will happen. It will not ever happen to me, never again in my life. Yet, I’m here.
NICOLLE WALLACE – And I know. It is easy for me to see where viewers are. It doesn’t seem like there is anyone more to blame for what they don’t like about Bush’s foreign policy. He was not the only one to pay respect to the building, but Dick Cheney.
Today is one year since the attack on America. The building in which the attack took place was home to Dick Cheney, a Republican who was not Liz Cheney. Claire: That is how terrible the Republicans really are.
JOHN HEILEMANN – Liz Cheney I believe is trying to reform the Republican Party in a fundamental manner. In her statement, she said that anybody supporting Donald Trump and anyone saying the big lie are all not true Republicans. Her position seems to be a position—and I know a lot of the viewers of this network hate her other positions on other things—but she is not just anti-Trump, she is anti-Trumpism.
