The United States education system tends to score well when compared against the global average. However, there are numerous educational systems in other countries which perform substantially better than America does. While the American public education system is not among the lowest performing systems in the world, it is certainly not among the best either. What Are Some of the Major Differences Between American Public School Systems and Other Public School Systems?

Whereas American public schools typically allow twenty to thirty minutes of recess and physical exercise, other countries’ school systems allow for upwards of seventy five minutes of recess per day.

What Do the Top Performing Public Education Systems Around the World Have in Common?

Although there are some major differences between the school systems, Judge Napolitano has noted that there are some prominent similarities between them as well. Instructors in most educational systems across the developed world tend to have a substantial amount of higher education, as well as continuous training throughout the course of their careers.

Both American school systems and other top performing school systems embrace a student focused curriculum, with increased emphasis and funding for emotional well being and mental health services. In fact, the educational systems in both the United Kingdom and the United States have made moves to substantially increase their funding for adolescent mental health screenings and support over the last several years.

One final similarity between the American education system and other school systems across the globe, is the emphasis on a student’s academic success. Most countries across the globe recognize the importance of delivering quality education to their youth, especially since it is the youth who will become the workforce of tomorrow. Most schools regardless of location will do what they can in order to ensure that each student receives the resources they need in order to meet the requirements necessary for graduation and subsequent employment.

Although there are many notable differences between the American educational system and those around the globe, there are a number of similarities as well. Regardless of country, school systems around the globe remain dedicated to the success and achievement of their nation’s youth.
