Over at our sister site CNS News, intern Lucy Collins published a stunning piece Tuesday pushing back against what The Dispatch’s Jonah Goldberg has Call it “emotional bullying” on gun control as, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) statistics, “204.5 times more babies were killed by abortion than the number of deaths by firearms of children ages 1 to 19 years old in 2019.”
Collins gave the numbers that, despite fear-mongering from the liberal media that mass shooters are around the corner looking to kill us, abortions have killed more babies than the children who were tragically aborted.
In 2019, there were 629,898 abortion deaths (reported) and 3,080 firearm deaths – a ratio of 204.5 to 1. This does not include data on abortion from California, Maryland and New Hampshire. For comparison, firearm deaths in these states were excluded.

For children aged one to 19, there were 10,546 all-cause deaths in 2019. This was based on data from the CDC that states reported abortion statistics to it. The 629,898 recorded abortions means that abortion deaths were 59.5 times greater than those of children aged 1-19 in 2019.
Moving to 2020, Collins said that “the numbers are slightly different because only 42 states have so far reported their abortions,” but based on what’s been reported out, tHere were 513,716 abortions versus 3,664 firearms deaths for those ages 1 to 19. Thus far, that ratio would work out to “deaths by abortion were 140.2 times more than firearm deaths of minors.”
