Don Lemon is the only person who can make a moment of lighthearted political unity at the National Prayer Breakfast into controversy. In his address at Thursday morning’s National Prayer Breakfast President Joe Biden told Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that he’s a “manof honor.” Biden did something kind about a Republican, which was refreshing. CNN’s Don Lemon disagreed.
The 11pm hour Don’t forget Lemon tonight Lemon invited John Avlon (CNN’s senior policy analyst) to join him for a discussion on a wide range of issues. Lemon gave a short speech about Biden, his former Senate colleague and friend, to end the segment.
Mitch, while I do not want to hurt your reputation but it is true that we are good friends. [chuckles]That is not an epiphany at the moment. Because you have always done what you said you would, and are a man who keeps his word, you can be a man full of honour.
Lemon dismissed Biden’s comments, saying that it was just a moment in time and then moving onto other topics. Lemon also accused Biden and others of not being at ease for the serious sin of praise-worthy Republican speeches “Now look, that’s the Bidenest thing ever. You should stand behind your friends. But I don’t mean that he is out of touch.
Avlon did not seem to take offense at McConnell’s praises of Biden immediately, but instead he tried to defend Biden “look, these are folks who’ve known each other for 30 years.”He said more “There is a difference between Senators and honest disagreements. He also acknowledged the fact that some hyperpartisanship was theater to a certain extent. McConnell was a collaborator with Biden when it came to infrastructure. This is quite a large bill. Is he trying to stop everything else? Yeah, you’re right. This is unfortunately a Washington reality.
Lemon couldn’t get over Biden calling McConnell “man of honour”. This exchange really demonstrates how annoyed Lemon was at Biden’s attempt to humanize Republican voters.
LEMON: He said he’s a man of honor.
AVLON: Yeah I think he’s saying that he thinks that Mitch McConnell is a man of his word.
LEMON: Can you tell me, is he an honourable man?
AVLON – I, I’m referring to honor — John McCain is a man who has honor.
LEMON: Yeah.
AVLON : I know that Biden would agree to my word.
Avlon was forced to stress the point that McConnell has known Biden for over thirty years. Lemon said that liberals shouldn’t get along with conservatives. “Our democracy is under threat.”
Don Lemon’s latest attempt to dehumanize Republicans is possible because of lucrative sponsorships from ADT Security Services and Arby’s. You can link their information to let them know the bias news that they support.

[cuts back to live]
LEMON: Okay, so this is probably the greatest Biden thing ever. You should support your friends. But I’m not sure if he is out of touch. –
JOHN AVLON: Look, these are folks who’ve known each other for 30 years.
LEMON: And?
AVLON He acknowledged the fact that some hyperpartisanship was theater to a certain extent. McConnell was a collaborator with Biden when it came to infrastructure. This is quite a large bill. Is he trying to stop everything else? Yeah, you’re right. This is unfortunately the norm in Washington. What’s not normal is actually saying the quiet part…

LEMON: What are you saying? I just – in this day and time when people are our, when our democracy is in peril, in order to really own that term or — go on.
AVLON – Do you know what Abraham Lincoln once said? You can catch more fly with honey than vinegar.
LEMON: These days, I’m not sure about it.
AVLON : It’s important to attempt to reach out. You gotta hold– the President in particular.
LEMON: To a certain point
AVLON – Up to a point They will fight. However, they have to fight. In particular the President has to reach out.
LEMON: I am trying to make the point that in order to become an honourable person within this community, one must be upright. They are very few.
AVLON, They’re rare. A measure of this is how willing you are to denounce Donald Trump loudly.
