The 2024 Presidential election will see the battle of California Governor Gavin Newsom and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. They are opposites and Democrats may be trying to move to Newsom 2024 as Democrats try to get rid of Biden.
J.B. Pritzker of Illinois and Jared Polis, Colorado Governors might also have interest in running as President. But Newsom already has a plan to become the nominee. He is running advertisements in Florida aimed towards taking down DeSantis.

Following the Newsom ad shown on Fox News in Florida, the Florida Chief Financial Officer and State Fire Marshal released a list of the differences between DeSantis’ and Newsom’s governing.
Below are some key facts: Florida surpassed the national average in economic growth. Migration to Florida is contributing tens of billions of dollars to the state’s economy. California lost nearly $18 billion worth of income due to the state’s exodus. The families who are moving to Florida have high-wage jobs. Check out this tweet for more details.

Besides the fact that under DeSantis’ leadership, the Florida population has grown, and under Newsom’s leadership, for the first time ever in California, the population shrunk in 2020 and 2021, it seems clear that DeSantis would trounce Newsom in important swing states. It is possible that Democrats won’t see the same thing; however, they should support it. They should want Newsom to run for President because his whole platform will be about guns and abortion–no problem-solving solutions.
Newsom would run the country just like he ran San Francisco as its mayor, and now the state of California: an ineffective ‘leader’ who has made the homelessness crisis worse by not having mental health workers readily available to treat those in need, by the lack of rehabilitation centers for the homeless, and as much as the rescue missions are trying to help and reduce homelessness, it is continuously increasing due to Newsom’s ineffectiveness, and horrible leadership. 40 percent of small businesses had to close during COVID-19 lockdowns.
Although this may not apply to the national, it is his inability at managing the fifth-largest global economy while seeing homelessness increase, rampant criminality due to Prop 47District attorneys such as George Gascon and Newsom both supported them, made people feel unsafe. This President’s incompetence in leading several important issues could cause greater damage than any other president.
Democrats wouldn’t want a DeSantis/Newsom race, particularly if both candidates run on the basis of their records as governor. Newsom kept the state in lockdown and destroyed small businesses while keeping schools open. His children attended private schools. DeSantis in Florida kept the state open. The economy boomed and small businesses thrived. Schools were also open.
DeSantis ensured that the most vulnerable were vaccinated first. He encouraged everyone to be vaccinated but did not require it. Newsom not only mandated vaccines but also required masks for longer periods than any other governor. Newsom was photographed wearing no masks while he attended the NFC Championship match, where masks were mandatory. Newsom is guilty of a lot of hypocrisy.
Californian, who has been through lockdowns and curfews as well as rampant crime, can tell you that Newsom is going to be one of America’s worst presidents. That’s not because he wants to destroy the Golden state, but because he is not the right person for the job. Newsom is too focused on the wrong things and what matters most to him, such as crime rates, housing prices, crime, homelessness, open air drug markets, small business, and economy. These issues will only worsen.
If Democrats wish to have the American people vote on the basis of whether they think the country should look more like Florida, or California, then they need to see the votes. If Newsom wins the nomination in 2024, voters in the Midwest (including Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania) may switch to DeSantis.
It will be an uphill battle for Newsom to win the independent vote, conservative Democrats, and liberal Republican votes; whereas DeSantis may get the vote by default due to his leadership in Florida compared to Newsom’s in California.
