On Thursday night, an armed suspect attempted to break into the Cincinnati FBI office. After fleeing the scene, the man drove northbound on Interstate 71 for 60 miles, while law enforcement pursued him. They then entered into a standoff.
Later, in an update, we wrote about the information the FBI released about the morning’s “incident,” though it was missing one detail.
What that doesn’t say is that while the man allegedly flashed an AR-15, he didn’t fire that at anyone in the FBI building. Before he left, however, he shot a nail gun at employees in the building.
According to our report, information was released concerning the confrontation with police
“Law enforcement has traded shots with a male suspect who is wearing a gray shirt and body armor,” the agency said in a statement, warning people nearby to stay inside and lock their doors. The Ohio State Highway Patrol stated that the suspect fired shots at a Ford Crown Victoria as he was being followed by police.
Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that the suspect suffered unknown injuries. Officers or other bystanders weren’t hurt.
At about 12:30, the agency said the suspect was “contained” but not in custody.
Fox News now reports that the 6-hour standoff is over and that the suspect is now dead.

In Wilmington, Ohio, the standoff with an armed suspect lasted more than six hours. The suspect was wearing body armor and had been hiding in rural fields. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the suspect was in custody.
