Charles Payne Goes to Town on CNN for Its State Media Take on Gas Prices – Opinion

We’ve seen Joe Biden and his team try to pitch the slight drop in the gas prices as some sort of enormous win. It had been so high, the prices dropped because the demand dropped, according to Reuters — not because of anything that Biden did. But it’s so on brand with Biden, who never takes any responsibility for anything, that when the prices went up, he blamed everyone and everything else except his bad energy policies. But once it went down, they tried to say they were “saving” you money.

While CNN has finally booted Brian Stelter and his show “Reliable Sources,” CNN hasn’t completely cleaned up being scribes for the Democratic party yet.

This is an incredibly disingenuous headline, “America just got a $100-a-month raise.”

“Next time you stop at a gas station, think of it as a $100-a-month tax cut. Or a maybe $100-a-month raise,” the article argues.

Why not? When Joe Biden was elected, prices averaged $2.33. In June they reached $5.00. Now, the current average is $3.91, so they’re still about a dollar-and-a-half more than when Biden came in.

You can see the trajectory under Biden according to EIA, and it wasn’t good.

CNN was, as you can see, criticized by social media users for selling this absurdity.

It was noted by one that if the Strategic Petroleum Reserve stops draining (if it is contributing at all to the decline), this could drive prices up just before the midterm election.

Fox Business’ Charles Payne couldn’t hold back.

“Does @CNN share writers with Biden administration?” Payne wondered. “This is so disingenuous. A raise? Gasoline through roof even with pullback from all time high.” Then Payne noted it’s not just gas; with inflation, we’re being crushed everywhere with high prices, “Then there’s food and rent! Yikes. The only thing that’s down in cost are dad jeans 👖”

Could this mean that gas companies once regarded as greedy by Biden are now not so greedy after all? This is the kind of lie that we were sold as it was going up; now we’re being sold the same lie as it comes down a bit. And if going down is a “raise,” what was going up all these months? Biden owes all this money back.

But if CNN wants to rehaul itself, pushing Biden’s talking points isn’t the way to do it.
