CAUGHT LYING AGAIN: Univision Cheap-Shots Ron DeSantis Over Rapid Tests

Univision again mocks Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Once again they missed. The network failed to disclose critical information, as it carried water from a possible opponent. They pushed a half-baked tale over quick tests that were canceled due to low demand.

As Patricia Janiot, anchor, frames the story with great care:

PATRICIA JANIOT – This has led to thousands of people waiting in long lines for Covid testing. Florida is the state with the most cases of infection. It was found that 1,000,000 rapid tests had been lost due to expiration in December.

GUILLERMO GONZÁLEZ: The controversy arose because Florida’s state government admitted that A lack of demand led to about 1,000,000 rapid Covid test results being canceled. The state’s infection rate is also increasing rapidly. Some people feel more calm now, despite everything.

GONZALEZ

JANIOT: Incredible. 1 million tests that were lost…

GONZALEZ: A shame… incredible.

JANIOT:… because they expired. There are many… What does the governor say, Guillermo?

GONZÁLEZ: Well, Governor DeSantis in a press conference today- the governor said that the tests were lost due to lack of demand during the months of September, October and November. He suggested that these tests may have been useful if Omicron had been available at the time. However, that did not happen.

JANIOT: That didn’t happen. Thank you for your report, Guillermo.

Correspondent Guillermo González tries to tie the expiration of the rapid tests to the current Omicron wave. However, the tests did not expire initially in December. Per Florida Department of Health spokesman Jeremy Redfern, the rapid tests expired in SEPTEMBER. In other words, they expired as Florida came down from the late-summer Delta wave. Abbott and FDA renewed the rapid testing, ThatThe December expiration date for renewal was 12.12. Univision did not include any of these details in its disinformative report. A request by the state for an extension to these kits was also left out. It appears that the purpose of this report is to give Nikki Fried, Democrat gubernatorial Candidate, a nice donation in kind.

It will be evident that DeSantis and Univision have been playing dirty with each other before. It does not matter whether it is Florida’s election integrity legislation, Florida’s cases counts (when on an uptick), DeSantis continuing fight for the state’s survival, or DeSantis, but it is clear that Ron DeSantis targets Univision News division.

This should serve as a reminder to you that Spanish-language corporate media are the biggest purveyors Spanish-language disinformation. It is still crying out for an alternative.
