Biden Surgeon General Demands So-Called COVID-19 ‘Misinformation’ from Big Tech

An interview with Thursday The New York Times, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy demanded Big Tech platforms turn over so-called “misinformation” about COVID-19 by May 2, saying they “have the opportunity to be open and transparent with the American people about the misinformation on their platforms.

“This is about protecting the nation’s health,” he added.

Murthy also asked health care providers to turn over information related to the negative effects of “misinformation” about COVID-19.

“We’re asking anyone with relevant insights — from original research and data sets to personal stories that speak to the role of misinformation in public health — to share them with us,” Murthy said.

Murthy referred to this action as a “request,” while The Times four times referred to it as a “demand.”

His “requests” have had consequences in the past.

Last year after Murthy demanded that platforms do more to combat the “misinformation,” YouTube suspended Sen. Rand Paul (R–KY) after he said that “most of the masks that you can get over the counter” have “no value,” according to an interview with Reason Magazine. Paul, who was a physician by profession, was talking about inefficacy with cloth masks.

Additional articles Reason Paul stated that the CDC agreed and noted that “properly-fitted respirators provide maximum protection,” while “loosely woven textile products offer minimal protection.”
