Biden Shows How Weak He Is in Cave to Progressives on Big Item – Opinion

Joe Biden, how much do you think he is willing to bend for the radical left?

They seem to think that the House Progressives have got their hands on him and are able to get him moving.

They announced in a formal statement that they would soon have a detailed plan of things that they wanted him to address through executive action that they haven’t been able to get because they failed to pass the Build Back Better bill.

But there’s another big item they’ve been pushing for some time, apart from Build Back Better — that is canceling student debt. People on the right were raving about the fact that payments on federal student loans were to resume on February 1.

Joe Biden today decided to postpone restarting payments until May 1st, another 90-day period.

Is that making people on the left happy? Are people on the left getting on board the train to Joe Biden’s place?

Well, no. Because no matter how much you pander to the left, there’s a basic principle. They’re unhappy people, and they’re never satisfied — they always want more. To be fair, he did do “a Biden” — promise it to get elected and then not deliver, so they do have something of a right to feel he played them, because he did.

In response to a question from a young person concerned about student loan debt and a lack of economic opportunity, Biden responded, “You get all these degrees and you get all this debt, and you get in a position where you can’t get a job because no one is hiring, or they’re hiring at very low wages… I’m going to eliminate your student debt if you come from a family [making less] than $125,000 and went to a public university.” Biden also said, “I’m going to make sure everyone gets $10,000 knocked off of their student debt” in response to economic hardships caused by the pandemic.

Biden also suggested that young adults receive a $15,000 credit toward a downpayment for their first house. “This is how people accumulate wealth,” he said. “This is how people get started. It is our responsibility to acknowledge you and move you forward. You are the future.”

He didn’t have to promise it. What’s the point of cancelling student debt? It gives an advantage to the college students that the kids who didn’t go to college don’t get.

But that didn’t stop folks like Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), the head of the progressive caucus, who called on Biden to go all the way. “The work cannot stop here,” Jayapal said. “The administration must now deliver on the President’s promise to cancel student debt, lowering costs for families at a critical time of tremendous health and economic uncertainty.”

So even though we’re talking about debt that people entered into voluntarily, they don’t want to pay it and they think it’s wrong that people think they should pay it. It sends the wrong message, doesn’t encourage schools to lower costs and favors those who have higher levels of debt and are more likely to get a degree.

Now they realize they did it to him by shouting at him. They plan on doing the same thing in 90 days. They’re already promising to “bully” him again. Biden is Biden. He will probably cave once again.

This speaks volumes about the weakness of his character and the ease with which he can be controlled. It is not a positive signal.
