Biden Adviser Calls Doocy’s Question about Payments to Illegals ‘Disrespectful’

A reporter might ask a president questions in which his answer may be deceptive or flat-out false. Would that render the reporter “disrespectful?” Cedric Richmond (Joe Biden’s senior advisor) says it does. Even though Biden replied to Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy about whether every illegal border crossing would get a $450,000 payment, his answer was less candid than expected. The outrage should go towards Doocy and Richmond’s bizarre reasoning.

The video shows Richmond in action. Fox News Sunday, Richmond’s outrage is directed in a rather heated way towards Doocy for asking a question in which Biden was  subsequently forced to backtrack three days after his initial denial of what he initially labeled a “garbage” report:

BILL HEMMER: There’s still confusion on another topic, as to whether or not the government will make payments to illegals. Here’s what the president said on Saturday when asked about it.

JOE BIDEN: If, in fact,  of the outrageous behavior of the last administration, you coming across the border, whether it’s legal or illegal, and you lost your child — you lost her child, he’s gone, you deserve some kind of compensation no matter what the circumstance.

HEMMER : This was again yesterday. On Wednesday, however, he said this to Fox News.

PETER DOOCY (Interview): Would that encourage more illegal immigrants to visit the country?

BIDEN But it’s not true.

DOOCY Is this a trash report?

BIDEN Yes.

HEMMER : Therefore, after an hour the ACLU commented, “President Biden may not be fully briefed regarding the actions by his own Justice Department.” And they continued.

Did he really want to be in the loop?

CEDRIC RICHOND: President is on the phone. On the campaign trail, the president stated that he wanted an independent Department of Justice and that he wouldn’t direct it what to do.

And if you go back to the question, the question was from a Fox reporter asking about whether compensation for being separated and losing a child would be an incentive to come to America. His question was absurd from the start. It is not the intention of anyone to leave their child and be separated from them.

And the question is so insensitive, disrespectful, that that’s what he’s commenting to.

It is something I’d like to know if you agree with. We cannot say with any straight faces that parents would be willing to divorce a child for just a dollar. That’s just not true. We shouldn’t talk like this. We keep saying we’re better than that, but we’re not acting like that.

HEMMER: What amount would it be if the $450,000 isn’t forwarded?

RICHMOND: That’s for the Justice Department to decide. It can save taxpayer money if it rights a wrong, and the Justice Department decides there should be compensation. This is independent Justice Department.

But, again, the question is, we took children — that President Trump took children from their parents and some children have never been returned. Do we think that’s okay?

HEMMER: Other people have made the case for the victims of fentanyl abuse who crossed the border. Other people speak about abuse of women along the route across the border.

Just back up to $450,000. This would amount to approximately four times what we offer Gold Star families.

RICHMOND: We don’t talk dollar amounts. This is the Department of Justice. This question of whether the incentive is to cross to the United States in an effort to separate your child from you so that you get paid for it is absurd.
