If you’ve been following the Antifa action over the past two years in Portland, you know that journalist Andy Ngo has been an indispensable asset for providing accurate news, when the media has sometimes been less than happy to cover the issue — or often, less than accurate on what has occurred.
This made him an easy target for the Antifa group. He’s been chased and/or attacked multiple times in the performance of his job. He reported that he suffered a head injury from one of the assaults. A second attack saw him chased down to a hotel.
Ngo seems to finally have been able to get at least some justice for another incident that occurred approximately a month before his head injury. He was, according to the indictment, attacked at a gym, and had his cell phone stolen.
John Colin Hacker has now been charged with third-degree robbery, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
News: John Hacker — a left-wing Portland activist / videographer — faces 3rd-degree robbery charge after authorities say he swiped Andy Ngo’s phone at a gym in 2019. Last week, a Multnomah Co. grand juror indicted him.
Very curious: How come the DA waited 2 1/2 years before pursuing charges against him? pic.twitter.com/Z9yITPUyLb

Fox News
Andy Ngo is a Conservative Author. He said on Friday that the man accused of attacking him at gyms and then taking his cell phone was charged.
“I hope last week’s indictment of Mr Hacker signals a change in the prosecutor’s office in Portland,” Ngo said in a news release distributed Friday by the Center for American Liberty, which is representing him in a lawsuit against an Antifa group. “For years, too many violent extremists falsely claiming to be fighting for ‘racial justice’ have gotten away with campaigns of terror and violence against journalists and citizens.”
A video of footage taken during the incident shows the man trying to steal the cell phone from the cameraman inside the gym. Ngo posted a tweet about the alleged attack.
“I will break your (expletive) phone,” someone is heard saying during the encounter.
Ngo’s lawyer, Harmeet K. Dhillon, the CEO of the Liberty Center, indicated it was about time, telling Fox News, “Two years later, this is finally a step in the right direction for the rule of law in Portland, where Antifa has been operating with impunity.”
“There is still a long road ahead for the justice that Andy Ngo deserves,” she added. “Andy has endured years of harassment, serious threats on his life and the inability to live in his hometown at the hands of these domestic terrorists. This is a good start, but we’re hoping to see more of these actions.”
It’s not clear why it’s taken so long to get the man charged.
Ngo’s case is not the only problem, it was also the issue of getting justice for all actions involving Antifa. This has been due to the extreme left nature of both the Multnomah D.A. Mike Schmidt. They would all be released quickly, and many were not charged even if they were to be arrested.
Now, more Democrats are moving away from the “Defund the Police” idea that have hurt their cities. The reason they’re moving away from it is not because of that or any great concern about people being hurt. The reason they’re moving away from it is that it’s hurting them politically in the eyes of the public.
Ted Wheeler, the Portland mayor is even discussing hiring more officers. Ngo points out that this man is also the one who cheated the police last year with a variety of moves.
If public safety is your number one priority, why did you vote last year to defund both the police force and the gun violence reduction group? Did you think the reduction in police response to violent crimes would result? https://t.co/MUuBtgICTA

Now let’s hope that’s a sign of some real change for the future. We’ll believe it when we see it from Ted Wheeler. Although he talks a lot about positive things, he does little in the way of actual action.
But with a little justice for Ngo, let’s hope there are more steps in the right direction.
