After a Year of Biden, Shocking Number of Americans Think Country Is on ‘Wrong Track’ – Opinion

As we reported on Sunday, a new NBC survey has revealed how disliking some politicians are in America. But the poll also showed a shocking number — that 72 percent of Americans think that the country is heading in the wrong direction. NBC said this was only the sixth time in history that it’s been over 70 percent and that when it happened in an election year, it wasn’t good for the party in power.

“In the three instances when this sustained dark outlook coincided with an election year, it foreshadowed bad news for the party in power — 1992, 2008 and 2016,” said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates.

When asked about where they thought we are after a year of Biden, Americans answered, “downhill,” “divisive,” “negative,” “struggling,” “lost” and “bad.”

There’s also a double-digit advantage in enthusiasm going into the midterms on the Republican side. Meanwhile, in the Democrats’ core groups, the biggest drops have come from key segments of the Democratic base, including Black voters, young voters, and urban voters. That’s a signal that some of the base is not going to show up, and the reason is Biden in large measure. Some Democrats said that they didn’t believe that Biden was fighting hard enough for their interests. When there’s been such a double-digit lead in enthusiasm in 2006, 2010, 2014, or 2018, that party with the enthusiasm edge has made a lot of gains.

Biden has blamed COVID, but he’s refused to take any responsibility for his bad policies and actions that have led to a lot of the problems. When he’s asked about polls like this one, he just blows them off, saying he doesn’t believe the polls. I’m not sure I believe that. But what is surely true is that he’s not paying attention to/caring about what Americans are saying — focus on the issues that matter to us — because he hasn’t been focusing on those issues. Instead, he thinks Americans are just confused and don’t get how wonderful he is.

Biden and Democrats have more bad news? Sixty-one per cent said that their family’s income is falling behind the cost to live. 70% believed America was too divided. That’s up 34 percent from a decade ago.

Biden’s success in uniting the nation was doubted by almost everyone. NBC interviewed ‘independents’ who hadn’t voted for Democrats in 2016 but did vote for Biden in 2020. One voter said that Biden listens to too many liberals. No kidding. We could have done that. Now you see the disastrous place he’s taken the country. However, these Independents who voted for him may not have realized how unhappy they feel now.

That’s a huge number for Joe Biden or the Democrats. If they are so unhappy, nobody votes for the party at power.
