Disney-owned ABC continued its anti-parental rights storyline on Wednesday’s A Million Little Things Madison/Maddox was a transgender student. Her parents had told Madison/Maddox that she would be being removed from Sussex Prep. Clark Roberts, Clark’s father, panicked, calls Rome (Rome), her teacher in an desperate effort to locate her. After Rome teaches Clark about his trans-daughter, Clark starts to wake up like an ABC After School Special.
When we left off last week, Rome found out that Madison/Maddox’s parents had threatened to pull their funding from Sussex Prep if Rome wasn’t fired. In this week’s episode, “Just in Case,” Rome hands in his resignation letter to avoid the loss of funds, but the dean refuses to accept it, claiming, “all you did was protect a child that couldn’t protect themselves”:
Regina: Are you sure that this is what you would like to do?
Rome: What else can I do?
Dre: What’s this?
RomeI’m resigning. Maddox’s parents will be mad at me because he is transgender. I’m sorry, man. It was my intention to assist, but I made matters worse.
Dre: This is unacceptable. It was a thought that I reflected on a lot. All you did was to protect the child who couldn’t defend themselves. They were so dependent on you to protect them is heartbreaking. Your doing precisely what I sent you to do. The Ainsworths are wrong to see this.
Rome? : I was adamant that if I didn’t get fired, then the Ainsworths wouldn’t stop donating money to the school.
Dre: That could be happening in either direction. Clark called me this morning. They are removing Maddox from Sussex.
OMG! (#eyeroll) This storyline has gotten so absolutely ridiculous it would almost be laughable if it wasn’t such a serious issue. It’s impossible to believe, but it gets worse with each episode.
After Rome gets home, he receives a knock at his door and finds Madison’s father Clark standing there asking where his daughter is:
ClarkMadison was informed by Isabelle that we would be taking Isabelle out of Sussex this morning. After getting upset she stormed into her bedroom, where we believed she was. I think she must have sneaked out. She might have been with me. You’re the one that gave her all these ideas.
Rome: I see you are upset. He didn’t have any of my ideas.
Clark: “His?” “His?” Madison didn’t know any of these things until you taught her.
Rome: Listen. Mad– My child reached out to me to get help. I wanted to ensure that they felt safe. This is why I returned to Sussex to care for the children in the same way my teachers did not look after me while I was away.Yes, yes, I do. Your little trick at the fountain seemed innocent. I will always remember what you guys did back then.
Clark: Does that sound like what you are saying? What’s the point of coming back to Sussex in a vendetta? And now you want revenge on our children?
Rome: No, My goal was to help other children in Sussex who may be like me.Since that day, each restaurant that I have been to, and every job that I apply for has had me leave that establishment. I wonder if that will encourage someone to disregard me the same way you did.
Clark:
RomeYou are not the problem! Your child is what I am referring to! Maddox was not transgended in my classroom. It was, in fact, the only place where he could be himself. And this morning you and your spouse decided to remove that feeling from him.
ClarkMadison is my favorite. She is who she is, and I don’t want to change that. It’s like I have lost touch with my child. She was a little girl when I first met her. The way she looked at my, that innocent look in her eyes, convinced me she had everything. She was Daddy’s little girl. It’s almost as if she is gone.
It is obvious that this is the direction of our country’s future. We clueless conservatives of the world would be so lost without people like Rome’s character to ‘wokesplain’ things to us so we can learn how to think, vote and act as they do. And if we fail to see the light, then we’re just racist, homophobic, transphobic, etc.
Of course, the writers are preparing to have Clark learn from Rome’s leftist wisdom because every liberal story needs a liberal happy ending, amirite?
RomeClark: I am sure you are proud of your child. For now though, He’s the one who hurts you the most. Maddox is your same child. He is intelligent. He’s ambitious. He believes in himself. Madison can convince you with just one glance. This moment is crucial. All your child wants is to know that you love and accept him no matter what.
Clark: Oh, my god. I’m sure she’s there.
All children should be unconditionally loved. Liberals believe that you cannot love a child unconditionally if you don’t handle the situation in your own way. They will only tolerate their views. Hence Rome’s ‘wokesplaining.’
As Rome and Clark rush to a spot in the woods Madison/Maddox likes to escape to when she’s troubled, Clark finally gives into “proper pronoun” pressure while Rome smiles at him proudly:
ClarkMadison’s brother, Madison, was born in the same year. To get some extra time with her, we used to go to church on Sundays. She enjoyed climbing the trees. My wife and I used to look up at clouds, forgetting about all of our problems. You can do it.
Rome: No, no. You could both use more of this special time.
Clark: He is not the right person to speak to.
Rome: It sounds like it.
It was touching to see the father and his daughter communicating after lying on top of a fallen tree. No matter how difficult life may be, every child deserves to feel secure and loved in this way.
But it’s cringey that it took a liberal teacher playing the role of hero standing up to ignorant, racist parents to get to this point. If the writers had decided to have Madison/Maddox’s parents seek mental health treatment for their daughter’s gender dysphoria, we wouldn’t be seeing such a heartfelt moment. Happily ever after happens in liberal Hollywood only when liberal ideology is followed.
As we’ve said before, it’s obvious propaganda meant to squash parents’ rights and make it appear as if teachers should be allowed to involve themselves in matters that should only be between a child and his/her parents.
Despite poor season average ratings (this episode came in last place among all major networks), it was recently announced that A Million Little ThingsA fifth season of the series has already been renewed. We can expect A Million Little Agendas will continue in season 5, which is expected to be released in 2023.
