ABC/NBC Ignore Hawley Questioning Jackson’s Sympathy for Pedophiles

On day two of confirmation hearings for Biden Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson where Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) exposed many of her previous comments showing how she has sympathy for pedophiles, ABC’s World News TonightAnd NBC Nightly News both ignored Hawley’s line of questioning during their slanted coverage of the hearings.

ABC Congressional correspondent Rachel Scott began her ABC report complaining about Jackson’s defense “her record against Republican accusations she’s soft on crime.” Then, she aired remarks from Senator Pat Leahy (Vt), who isn’t a Republican.

“What do you say to people who say you’re soft on crime or even anti-law enforcement? Because you accepted your duties as a public defender?”Leahy wanted to tee up Jackson.  “As someone who has had family members on patrol and in the line of fire, I care deeply about public safety”Jackson responded to softball.

Scott later reported on Jackson’s death. “pushed back against accusations she handed down light sentences for people convicted of possessing child pornography.”

JACKSON – As both a mother of children and as a judge, these cases have made me realize that there is no way to be more wrong. In every case I deal with, it is crucial to me that children’s perspectives, their voices are included in my sentences.

This was all of the Senate Republican’s coverage on Jackson’s record regarding child pornography or pedophilia.

The rest of the segment consisted of Scott airing questioning from Republican Senators Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, and John Cornyn about Jackson’s record defending Guantanamo Bay terrorists and Critical Race Theory.

Continue reading NBC Nightly NewsLester Holt, the anchor of the Nightly Newscast, opened the newscast by complaining that the hearings were a waste. “posturing and political opportunism”Jackson was praised by the crowd. “resisting attempts by both sides to drag her into partisan food fights.”

After that gushing by Holt, he handed the segment off the chief White House correspondent Peter Alexander who also ignored Hawley’s grilling of Jackson (click expand):

PETER ALEXANDER: Responding to criticisms that her child pornography possession sentences were too light.

JUDGE KETANJI BROWN JACKSON : Being a mother of two and a judge, I thought that this could not be farther from the truth.

ALEXANDER. Republican Ted Cruz pointed out several instances in which Jackson was sentenced to shorter sentences than the ones recommended by prosecutors.

SENATORTED CRUZ: Would you agree that children’s voices are being heard when, 100% of the time, your sendingencing child pornography-related cases to far less than what the prosecutors want?

JACKSON, Senator: Judges don’t simply calculate guidelines and then stop. They have to consider the individual circumstances of each defendant as that is a Congress requirement.

Both networks missed the point. Hawley reading Jackson’s past commentsFeeling sorry for an 18-year-old pedophile

SENATOR JOHN HAWLEY (Reply): We will continue to discuss this case. This individual, who is an adult, you also stated that he tried to be an adult. You are 18 years old. He also heard you say to him that his victims were your peers. Your statement also stated that there was no reason to suspect you of being a child pedophile. You then said that there was another reason to believe you were a pedophile. He would be given three months. You had already concluded that he wasn’t a pedophile. Then you stated, “This is something that I need your assistance understanding.” He thanked you for your apology. This is what I have to say: I don’t know how I am going to solve this. He said that this was a very difficult situation. Your family will be there, which I am grateful for. It is my deepest regret for your family and the pain it has caused for all of us. It is terrible to think about all the consequences. Then you add that sex offenders in society are shunned.

These remarks were quite stunning, and Judge Jackson looks terrible. This is likely why networks chose not to broadcast them.

This latest example of the networks ignoring GOP criticism of Biden’s radical Supreme Court nominee was made possible by TD AmeritradeABC News and ABC Television Liberty MutualNBC. The following information has been linked.

RACHEL SCOTT – Judge Ketanji Jones Jackson defends her record in the face of Republican claims that she’s too soft on crime.

SENATOR PAT LEAHY: Do you think people will say that you don’t care about crime or anti-law enforcement. Because you have accepted your duties of public defender.

JUDGE KETANJI BROWNJACKSON: I am deeply concerned about the safety of public. I know what it’s like to have loved ones who go off to protect and to serve, and the fear of not knowing whether or not they’re going to come home again.

SCOTT: She denied that she gave light sentences to child pornography convicted people.

JACKSON: I have been a mother, and judge that has dealt with such cases. It was hard to believe otherwise. In every case I deal with, it is crucial to me that children’s perspectives, their voices are included in my sentences.

SCOTT: Republicans pressing Jackson. This is the story of Guantanamo bay terror suspects’ defense by an ex-public Defender.

SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM: Did you ever accuse, in one of your habeas petitions, the government of acting as war criminals or holding the detainees –

JACKSON: I’m.. I’m..

GRAHAM: The detention of detainees by –by our government that they were war criminals.

JACKSON : Senator, that is not what I remember.

SENATOR JOHN CORNYN: In a legal filing, why would Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld or George W. Bush be called war criminals? This seems outlandish to you.

JACKSON : I’m sorry Senator. That particular reference is gone. But I recall that I was representing my client.

SCOTT. Jackson in this case did not call the American government “war crimes.” She stated that Guantanamo Bay’s “torture” and “other inhumane treatment” at Guantanamo Bay “constitute warcrimes and/or crime against humanity.”

SCOTT: Republican Senator Ted Cruz questions Jackson, the first African woman to be nominated for the Supreme Court, regarding critical race theory.

SENATOR TED CRUZ (SENATOR): It views every conflict in the world as a race conflict. Are you sure that this is a correct way to see society in the context we live in today?

JACKSON: Senator. I do not believe so. However, I have never studied critical race theory, and I have never tried it.

SCOTT: Cruz reads from an antiracist book. This was the children’s book Jackson’s daughter is reading at. The judge also sits on this board.

CRUZ: Are you in agreement with the book being read with children that infants are racist?

JACKSON, Senator — It is not my belief that children should feel inferior or rejected.

SCOTT. Cruz questions Jackson about one child’s book after the next. Exasperated, the judge

JACKSON. Senator, I haven’t read any of these books or any of the ideas. These ideas don’t appear in my job as a judge. I respectfully address them.

SCOTT: Jackson explains her position on abortion.

JACKSON – Roe and Casey refer to the Supreme Court’s settled law regarding the rights of a woman to terminate her pregnancy.

LESTER HOLT: It was a good evening. Even though the confirmation process followed the same Washington pattern of political posturing and opportunism. Judge Ketanji brown Jackson, who was first black nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court, was subject to hours of questioning by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Although lauded by Democrats, they were grilled and interrogated by exhausted Republicans. The 51-year old wife and mother, Ketanji Brown, described her judicial policy as being soft on child pornography cases. When Judge Jackson was asked about abortion, she said that Roe V Wade is settled law.

PETER ALEXANDER: Responding to criticisms that her child pornography possession sentences were too light.

JUDGE KETANJI BROWN JACKSON : Being a mother of two and a judge that has dealt with such cases myself, I believed there could not be a more truth.

SENATORTED CRUZ: Would you agree that children’s voices are being heard when, 100% of the time, your sendingencing child pornography-related cases to far less than what the prosecutors want?
