ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC Refuse to Cover New Migrant Caravan Careening Toward U.S.

A new caravan of migrants, numbering in the hundreds, continued their march towards the United States over the weekend. They broke through the line of Mexican police officers wearing riot gear. Within the next few weeks they will be a significant national security risk and further compound the Biden border crisis. Despite all that, this story was ignored on Monday’s broadcast network morning newscasts.

Worse yet, the story didn’t receive a mention on the two liberal cable networks either as CNN’s Day of the New and MSNBC’s Morning Joe couldn’t even spare a few minutes to offer a condescending dismissal of the caravan as imaginary or insignificant.

In contrast, NewsNation’s new AM show Morning in AmericaThis story received 10 minutes, 37 seconds of coverage over three hours. There were five segments, two news briefs, and a total time commitment of 10 minutes. The border crisis also served as NewsNation’s lead political story.

The Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends also gave the crisis the attention it deserved to the tune of 17 minutes and 52 seconds over three segments.

Adrienne Bankert, former ABC reporter and host of NewsNation (formerly WGN), announced on NewsNation at 7:00 AM Eastern that she was back. “a group of about 2,000 migrants, mostly from Central America, have started their journey from southern Mexico to the U.S. border with hopes of gaining entry.”

This is what you should do “this group seems to be different,”Bankert reached out to Joe Khalil (Washington correspondent), who reported that “typically, we see…surges like this…in the cooler months,” However, illegal immigrant flows have not slowed down. “about 1.7 million migrants [have] come to the U.S. southern border just this year alone” With July and August seeing “close to 200,000.”

Khalil then walked through some of the footage coming out of Mexico and how, if they follow a court order, the Biden administration will be reimplementing the Remain in Mexico police (click “expand”):

KHALIL : Let’s take a closer look at the events of this weekend. The riot-gear group blew through the border between Mexican security and police officers. And as you mention, the numbers — there’s different reporting. Some estimate that there are more than 2,000. Some are even higher than that — a larger group. Leaders of this caravan say that the ultimate goal is to travel to Mexico City. Not to the United States. There are reporters who are on the ground talking with some migrants and they say that their ultimate goal is to reach the United States. These people are coming from Central America, South America, some even from Haiti, so what we know is that if they do end up reaching the U.S. border, the Biden administration is actually set to reimplement a Trump era policy — the remain in Mexico policy and that is expected to happen at some point in November. Anybody who attempts to obtain asylum legally at the U.S. Border this year and makes it across the line to Mexico will have to do so on their own. Adrienne is a good example of why this should matter.

Joe, the most striking thing about this is the observation of the tone and the attitude of those here making their way toward the U.S./Mexico Border in an earlier instance. This makes it seem as though they’re a very desperate group, just trying to find safety, which there are some. But this is much more well organized, as you were mentioning and they were shouting things such as Libertad — liberty and freedom — as they marched through Mexico.

Khalil then would provide a comparable report every two hours. Bankert offered two brief news briefs at the bottom of each hour, at 7:00 and 8:00 Eastern time.

Bankert first briefly mentioned the caravan, which was made up of thousands. “just pushed their way through” They will be able to cross the border with no problems if they are accompanied by Mexican authorities.t “two weeks or more.”

Bankert reiterated Khalil’s point that, while some are going “to Mexico City to protest Mexico’s treatment of migrants,” others were much more transparent in their answers to reporters on the ground that they’re going to the U.S.

She would also add in the 8:30 a.m. Eastern brief that there’s “[w]ord that people had to register to be in this caravan.”

Nick Smith, NewsNation reporter, reported two stories in Eastern Time at 7:00 and 9:00 AM. Here was his first spot (click “expand”):

BANKERT : As those immigrant make their long journey. It is important that we know where the immigrants plan to enter America. Nick can be found at NewsNation’s smart board. Was there anything you learned?

SMITH – The impression is that members of the caravan plan to eventually travel into the United States. Earlier, however, they did so. This is where a large group of Haitians, some reporting as high as 12,000 made it to Texas. It is only a matterof feet between one country and the next, therefore, it is easier to cross this narrow strip of water. This is the reason for the crossing. It is now 21 years since the highest number of people crossing into Mexico from the U.S. These are migrants crossing Central Mexico to reach the United States. The border patrol has expelled more than a million migrants from Mexico and their homelands in just the past year.

The corporate media liberal media should be made even worse. independent journalist Ali BradleyReports since Friday TapachulaThis is the city in southern Mexico where the caravan was assembled and set off.

Bradley included a video on Saturday of one man who said he was from West Africa and decided to make the journey “because it’s the best time” to come with someone like Joe Biden in office. As he walked, he carried a sign that said “Joe Biden is for all.”

Bradley spoke with people between Saturday morning and Monday. El Salvador Honduras NigeriaAnd Venezuela, with many having said they were going to the U.S. for work and weren’t concerned about how they would be treated.

This video shows Bradley talking with a Nigerian.

Bradley uploaded video to illustrate the cooperation and support Bradley provided for this caravan. Bradley also posted footage of the medic station being set up in caravan for those who stopped to rest under the shade.

Instead of covering a new chapter in the border crisis, ABC’s Good Morning America Denver House of Hunted Art CBS Mornings aired an interview with Bruce Springsteen and former President Obama, and NBC’s Today I was briefed about Ryan Gosling playing Ken in a Barbie movie.

Over on cable, CNN’s Day of the New spent over seven minutes touting Obama’s crude denunciation of alleged teen rapes in Loudoun County, Virginia as “phony trumped-up culture wars” and MSNBC’s Morning JoeA whopping 67 minute period was spent obsessing on January 6 and the ways Facebook has poisoned Americans minds to make them more radical right-wingers.
