Univision’s immigration advocacy has reached a point where the network’s news division now promotes a swimming instructor that is training potential migrants on how to swim across the Rio Grande.
As Univision’s Edicion Digital broadcasts its midday newscast, it promotes illegal immigration in the United States.
BORJA VOCES: We now go live to Mario Veneiro, the swim coach for Club Mantarrayas (Club Stingray), who teaches his countrymen that are set to migrate, free of charge. Is this a popular course? Do you have a waiting list? Do there are more females or men in the course? Let me know a little about the types of people who take these courses.
MARIO VENEIRO : It’s all about people – teenagers, adults and every day, more.
CAROLINA SASSA: Mario, I’m asking you: The Rio Grande looks calm and still, almost like a swimming pool. There are also many dangerous currents. So how can you ensure that the pool is not flooded by the Rio Grande, and people are able to learn to swim against currents?
VENEIRO. We constructed a tunnel that ran inside the pool. Ten people were placed on either side with boards. Then we splashed water over anyone who crossed the channel.
SARASSA: Mario Veneiro, live from Nicaragua on Edicion Digital. It’s good that you’re telling us about this course, which has gone viral. Children, fathers, and mothers who have thought about moving to America, where they can face the dangerous waters of (the Rio Grande). We are very grateful.
Univision sees it as a good idea to encourage swimming classes, as records are being set by migrants who continue to pour across the border.
Classes in swimming!
The danger at the southern border wasn’t enough for Univision to encourage swimming in the most treacherous areas of Rio Grande.
