YouTube has again suspended Steven Crowder, a conservative commentator.
Three strikes by a user within 90 days will result in the user being permanently suspended. Crowder, however, is only one strike away being removed permanently. He continued to stream his show at Rumble video streaming service.
Crowder stated that YouTube had sent him the second channel strike on Blaze Media’s show. This will prevent us streaming YouTube videos for the remainder of the year.
“As per usual, they didn’t give any details regarding the suspension,” he said. “It’s one of those things where we could say, we could guess…I mean, take your pick.”
This show included a parody song about someone transgender in a relationship. It also covered criticisms that author JK rowling received for her views on the matter.
YouTube said Crowder violated the platform’s policy against “hate speech,” but did not provide a specific example.
Jack Malon, a YouTube spokesperson said that the second strike was issued to StevenCrowder for violating the hate speech policy by repeatedly targeting the LGBTQ+ community. “Hate speech is not allowed on YouTube, and we remove content or issue other penalties–such as a strike–when a creator repeatedly targets, insults, and abuses a protected group based on certain attributes, such as sexual orientation or gender identity and expression, across multiple uploads.”
Crowder will lose his channel permanently if he receives another strike in the same 90 days as his initial strike. His subscribers number more than 5 million.
