Yankees And Rays Latest Teams To Advocate For Gun Control

It’s not just the NBA that is hopping on the gun control bandwagon in lieu of the school shooting in Uvalde, TX. The virtue signaling is also being done by the MLB.

Last night, the social media teams of the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees collaborated with each other to use their Twitter pages to spam people’s feed with facts about gun violence. Throughout the Yankees 7-2 victory, neither team posted any game updates.

Both teams sent out tweets similar to this at a rate of almost three per hour. This was in an effort to promote the belief that gun violence can cause death and more gun control is needed.

The Rays stated in a blog post that they understand the difficulty of tackling this crisis by one organization. However, they said, “But working together we can make an effect.”

The Rays also made a $50,000 donation to Everytown for Gun Safety, an organization that plans to end gun violence through “common sense” gun laws (translated: more restrictions on your second amendment freedoms).

It seems that this is the message we should all be spreading and supporting. But if we do a little more honest work and dig deeper, we realize this isn’t actually the case.

Americans believe taking away guns will keep tragedies from unfolding and prevent gun violence. Chicago data shows strict gun control laws are not effective in solving the problem of those who want to harm others. They will eventually find them if people put their efforts into obtaining guns.

To make the public react to an issue that is more than just restricting gun ownership, the Yankees and Rays have published a lot of facts. It is great to want to have an impact, but it isn’t beneficial to do so in the manner these teams would prefer.
