We Have Finally Reached the End With Rebekah Jones, Florida’s Inept COVID ‘Whistleblower’  – Opinion

It has taken far too long for the media outrage and accusations against Governor Ron DeSantis regarding his COVID performance to die down – it has basically taken for the pandemic to fade in order for You will soon see the noises subside. Even today, some people still believe in the slings-and-arrows approach, even though the results show that Florida has weathered the storms better than most other states.

Rebekah, an ex-computer worker for Florida Department of Health, was a major force behind this criticism. Jones raised her profile and positioned herself to be a whistleblower, exposing corruption and manipulations from DeSantis as well as from the FDOH. Jones claimed that she was instructed to manipulate data to position the state to perform better during the pandemic. As a result she was a darling of the media. She was invited to interview with many networks, and conducted interviews with all who were willing to air her.

In February 2021, it was. When I discussed many of Jones’ problems,Her infamy in media, demonstrating how she was used to criticize DeSantis while failing to provide solid proof.  Her myth-making has now been put to the sword. The FDOH Office Inspector General has published a 27-page document which states conclusively that as far as the various claims made by Jones, she has abjectly failed to substantiate…anything.

The IG investigated the subterfugee claims and found that Jones was not liable. The IG report found that all of the accusations were true. UNsubstantiatedThese charges, as well as the persons named in them are deemed to have been withdrawn. exonerated.Jones is a mere fabulist, according to the investigation.

Problem is, most of the findings either had already been made or were not supported by cogent evidence. She was a rising star in 2020. While she was able to make the allegations, most of her evidence was largely ineligible. They were also charmed by her comments, despite the fact that her story had changed significantly.

Jones first rose to prominence because she was unhappy with how the FDOH measured positivity rates. Actually, it was. She arrived on the media radar in May 2020She commented that she was not happy with the method of measuring. Jones isn’t a doctor or scientist. Instead, she is a computer technie. Therefore her disagreement with metrics is incontestable. Jones said that there had been no manipulation at the time.

Jones has not alleged any tampering with data on deaths, hospital symptom surveillance, hospitalizations for COVID-19, numbers of new confirmed cases, or overall testing rates — core elements of any assessment of the outbreak and of federal criteria for reopening. And Jones acknowledges Florida has been relatively transparent — for which she herself claims some credit — and relatively successful in controlling the pandemic.

Later, her story changed significantly. She claimed that she was instructed to alter data and figures to show a higher level of success for the state and to promote DeSantis’ desire to reopen it. Although there were obvious problems with the charge, the media chose to ignore them.

Jones made vague accusations, but it was not enough. Most direct thing she could point atIn fact, she was benign. In order to verify the accuracy of the data, she was instructed to stop entering data for a short period. This was an corrective measure to improve reporting times.

Jones claims are not true. Jones claims she didn’t have the right to alter the data she was instructed to. This was far beyond her salary grade. These data were only available to the FDOH top doctors. She merely would be given the data in order to upload it into the state’s COVID portal, and this exposes the ruse.

She could not alter the data that she had been granted. This would cause conflict with all the documents. The FDOH compiled reports from various departments across the state before loading the data into the portal. Any discrepancy could be easily identified and refuted, as the regional reports would show that the region had altered the data. Further, following her initial claims of problems, the state’s portal has been monitored closely by numerous news outlets in Florida. According to her accusations, no data manipulation was found in the news media. The IG Report concluded this conclusion.

Moreover the complainant was not able to access COVlD-19 surveillance data from Merlin and ESSENCE. [Jones] only had the ability to change or otherwise alter the dashboard’s visualization of the COVlD-19 data analysis that had already been published and distributed in final daily reports by the time the complainant received the dataset from the BOE. If the DOH staff or the complainant falsified COVID-19 data, then the dashboard wouldn’t have corresponded to the final daily reports. The BOE data quality assurance staff, along with other parties (including CHDs, local governments and researchers), would have detected such a discrepancy.

Rebekah Jones’ media idolization is a complete farce. Despite persistent rumors that Florida was manipulating the numbers and DeSantis misrepresenting COVID statistics to increase his status, the only source for these claims has been DeSantis. None of these claims has been supported by any other source, nor has data ever been presented that would support them. Also, there has never been a news story breaking showing the FDOH or state making definite false moves. Jones was always the one and only sign of wrongdoing.

The revealing aspect of this – Jones has yet to display any right-doing. Although Jones had been granted airtime in media outlets and was given oxygen for her conspiracy theories, while she failed to provide any evidence, it is clear that her lack of ability to prove her claims has been a problem. It has been demonstrated that she is severely inept at this.
