Why Mother’s Day Weekend? | Newsbusters

Irony doesn’t begin to explain why pro-choice activists chose Mother’s Day weekend to picket the homes of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Chief Justice John Roberts, who appear ready to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Demonstrators and demonstrators outside the Supreme Court Building seem to have broken at least two federal laws in an age where there are less consequences for breaking moral or statutory law. These laws are unlikely to be implemented by the Biden-Abortion-At-Anytime administration that refuses enforce Immigration laws.

Below are two excerpts of federal law that may be helpful to the Justice Department. 18 U.S.Code 1507 “Picketing or Parading” states, “Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty, pickets or parades in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge … shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.” (emphasis mine)

That seems clear, doesn’t it? What does language really mean? And, as liberals consider the Constitution, what law says about judges’ intentions or wishes or the way they would interpret it?

Related law 18 U.S. Code 1503, is titled “Influencing or injuring officer or juror generally.” It says in part, “Whoever corruptly, or by threats, or by any threatening letter or communication, endeavors to influence, intimidate, or impede any grand or petit juror, or office in or of any court of the United States…” can potentially be found guilty and face “imprisonment for not more than 10 years, a fine under this title, or both.”

Comment would the Justice Department describe demonstrations and picketing Outside the home of justices? Which label would existing law give them to the picketers or shouters who gathered outside of the Supreme Court Building? Why were protesters there if they were not trying intimidate or influence conservative justices? Shouldn’t the public expect laws to be enforced? For most individuals, they are. You can be found guilty by a judge and sentenced to time in jail or fined for breaking the law. What is it that the government has made illegal and legal immigration a distinct category?

The refusal to enforce laws equally has contributed to a decline in the public’s trust in our institutions.

 Gallup poll showed that between 2019 and 2020 when the pandemic took hold, faith in every institution surveyed – including public schools, the presidency and Congress – dropped. Only the police showed an increase in confidence and remarkably that was when the left’s “defund the police” movement was at its height.

Today’s left is concerned only with outcomes that conform to their worldview. They were happy to repeal all laws that prohibited abortion in their states. When prayer and Bible reading were taken out of public schools, they cheered. The Court is now a pariah because the shoe was on the right foot, not the left.

They can’t have it both ways, though they are trying.
