We’ve been reporting on the new COVID variant that the South Africans have identified.
It’s been named the Omicron variant by the World Health Organization (WHO), as we reported. Some people were puzzled as to why it was named Omicron. It appears to have skipped both Nu and Xi from the Greek alphabet that the WHO used for naming variants. It was thought that the last concern variant was Mu. Therefore, it was likely that Nu would follow. So many were speculating that this skipping was because the WHO was toadying — once again — to their buddies, the Chinese, and they didn’t want to offend Chinese President Xi.
The WHO now weighs in, and admits that they deliberately skipped the letters. The WHO provided a detailed explanation in a statement explaining why. Their explanation is hilarious because I don’t know what you think, but it sure sounds to me like they’re more or less confirming the speculation.
[T]He WHO stated that it skipped nu to clarify and xi in order not to cause offense.
“‘Nu’ is too easily confounded with ‘new,’ and ‘Xi’ was not used because it is a common last name,” the WHO said, adding that the agency’s “best practices for naming disease suggest avoiding ‘causing offence to any cultural, social, national, regional, professional or ethnic groups.’”
The WHO also said that “we have agreed [to] naming rules that avoid using place names, people’s names, animal, etc. to avoid stigma.”
According to a WHO source, Nu and Xi were deliberately not included in the Greek alphabet. Nu had been skipped to avoid confusion with the word “new” and Xi had been skipped to “avoid stigmatising a region”, they said.
Pandemics are inherently political

Funny how they weren’t concerned about anyone with the last name of Mu or any of the other letters before Xi, isn’t it?
The AP reports that this marks the first instance of the WHO not using letters in naming variants. So, apparently, the only folks they don’t want to offend are those named Xi. They also don’t care about offending the Zeta cartels.
They could call it “Xi virus”, which would be the best name. But the WHO is so submissive to China, they couldn’t bring themselves to do it. Who could believe anything they say, considering how much they’ve carried water for China down the line? That’s why President Donald Trump wanted to pull us out of our support for the WHO. Biden did the opposite and refused to take China or WHO to task.
Jonathan Turley nailed this, referring to Xi Jinping “He Who Must Not Be Named.” “It is obviously symbolic (literally) but the concern is that it continues to show a controlling sensitivity for not offending the government,” Turley said,The WHO must address this controversy.
Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas, pointed out how dangerous this is for potential new viruses.
How can the WHO be trusted to identify the Chinese Communist Party when they try to hide a global pandemic? https://t.co/wURdLcdqw2

Donald Trump Jr. uncovered the truth about COVID, or any other variants.
As far as I’m concerned the original will always be the Xi variant. https://t.co/tm8EWcmq3A

Trump, Jr’s tweet is right on target. China, unfortunately, will not be held responsible for the actions they took, as Joe Biden is in control. The WHO will provide cover similar to this.
