The View’s response to the leaked draft of a Supreme Court decision that overturns Roe v. Wade was just as unhinged as one might expect. In addition to Joy Behar claiming “fascism is down the line” for America, Whoopi Goldberg raged out and bizarrely claimed that the person deciding on the abortion was the woman, the doctor, AND the child that would be killed by the procedure.
The open tease warned that things would get spicy right away. “the pillars of American justice are shaking.”An announcer asked if it was “the end of Abortion rights” and “how will this impact reproductive rights?” It also played a soundbite of Massachusetts Congressman Jim McGovern (D) claiming the conservative justices “want to turn this country into the Handmaid’s Tale.”
Goldberg was in charge of leading the cast and tried to ease the anxieties of liberal viewers. “This was a draft that they put together sometime earlier in the year,” she said. “This is not the law. And I want to make sure everybody knows that your rights are still in place.”
But Goldberg’s demeanor would drastically shift by the end of their second segment on the draft ruling. By that time, she was yelling and morbidly claiming the child also chooses abortion. “It is you who makes that decision. My doctor, and myself, and my child, that’s who makes the decision,”With a wink, she exclaimed.
Yet, despite all of this The ViewGoldberg criticized those protocols and urged support for vaccine mandates. “No, it is not the first time, but I will tell you this is my body and nobody, you know, you got people telling me that I’ve to wear a mask or don’t wear a mask or do this,”She waggered.
The screaming became worse when she began to snap at the camera angrily and rant about the supporters of the draft ruling “not looking out for me as a human being” (click expand):
Because people desired to be safe and clean, this law was born! This has absolutely nothing to do about your faith! It is not an issue of religion! It’s a human matter! These are three facts that you need to know if you truly care about me, as a person. Aborting a baby isn’t easy. This is a difficult decision! This is not an easy decision to make. [snaps her fingers at the camera]This is not an easy task! [snaps her fingers at the camera]People make terrible, difficult decisions!
And if you don’t have the wherewithal to start this conversation with “I know how hard this must be for you.” If you’re starting it by telling me I’m going to burn in Hell, then you’re not looking out for me as a human being whether I subscribe to religion or not! This isn’t okay.
What about those little babies who are killed because of abortion?
And in another example of how self-centered Behar is, she recounted how she “ woke up in the middle of the night to pee,” saw the story, and “couldn’t go back to sleep. It’s that devastating.”
Amy Coney Barrett suggested that the conservative Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh lied to Congress during their Senate confirmation hearings. Behar claimed they would target “Brown vs. Board of Education”We are in a very dark time, warned him. “So, I see fascism down the line here.”
In the second segment on the draft ruling, Sunny Hostin got exceptionally self-righteous as she touted her Catholicism and how “my faith tells me that abortion is wrong … But I don’t want to put my beliefs on anyone else.” She also decried how “morally grounded” Justice Samuel Alito’s ruling was. “I don’t think that that should ever be in a Supreme Court opinion,” she proclaimed.
But Alito’s reference to the morality of the issue was regarding how each side views itself. So, was it a Freudian slip that their side didn’t really care about morality? That’s not to mention how they always try to claim they have the moral high ground.
In response, Sara Haines cried “separation of church and state” and worried a real ruling “will reduce safe abortions and it will cost lives as a result – more lives.” When questioned if the “more lives” part was a tacit admission that abortion takes lives, Haines told NewsBusters: “Nope, but for those who claim to be pro life [sic], it may reveal which lives matter more.”
It may not be true, however, for pro-life advocates, it could reveal which lives are more important.

The other side of that coin actually shows how the cast thinks the lives of unborn children are worthless and should be killed if they’re deemed an inconvenience. And for all of Goldberg’s claims that it’s not a decision that’s celebrated, how does she account for the “shout your abortion” movement and the videos online of women throwing parties?

Eastern, 11:00:25ANNOUNCER. The end to Abortion rights. American justice’s foundations are shaken by a leaked opinion draft that Supreme Court conservatives made to support Roe V. Wade. How the left warns they’re waging war on American women.
REP. JIM MCGOVERN (D-MA): They want to turn this country into the Handmaid’s Tale.
ANNOUNCER: While some conservatives hail it as justice that’s long overdue.
LAURA INGRAM: Many people believed that the Roe original opinion was harsh considering what has happened to more than 50 million children.
ANNOUNCER – How does this affect reproductive rights? Are Americans likely to object? Who could have leaked the information?

WHOOPI GOLDBERG (All right. Let’s start by saying that. This country still allows women to choose abortion. Last night, protests broke out after Politico published a major opinion draft.
This means it was a draft – this was a draft that they put together some time earlier in the year. This is what they do. This is because they create drafts of stuff and it’s not yet the law.
SARA HAINES – It was leaked.
GOLDBERG : It isn’t the law. Let me make it clear to everyone that you still have your rights. Okay?

Joy Hara: In the middle of the night, I got up to go pee. And while I was up I see my phone lighting up, people are texting me ‘look what happened here.’ I couldn’t go back to sleep. It’s that devastating.
You know, I’d like to point out that during those hearings, all of these people that are voting to overturn this lied, didn’t they lie?

BEHAR: It sounds like they all felt there was precedent and would respect it. And now it’s the complete opposite is happening, not that I’ surprised. Before, you and I had been talking. [Points to Goldberg] We’re not surprised, we saw this coming. I worry is that this is just the beginning, next they’ll go after gay marriage and maybe the board – what is it? Brown v. Board of Education. Our voting rights have already been eroded a bit. Also, fascism seems to be coming down the pipe.

SUNNY HOSTIN: The problem that I have with this opinion is – and everybody knows I’m Catholic, my faith tells me that abortion is wrong. I believe that life starts at conception. However, I do not want anyone to be influenced by my faith. That is wrong. It was religiously, morally and ethically founded.
I mean, it starts with saying “abortion presents a profound moral issue in which Americans hold sharply conflicting views. This should never be in an opinion of the Supreme Court. This was disappointing to me.
SARA HAINES (Sarah): The beauty of this country is that it has always been separated from the church and the state. And the reason being, even though it was religious people that came to settle the country, the brilliance of that original Constitution – with all of its imperfections – was that it knew well enough to know that to co-exist, we could not legislate religion.
And the second problem with that – I just forgot – But the other part I’d like to says is this will not in any way stop abortions or reduce abortions. It will reduce safe abortions and it will cost lives as a result – more lives.

GOLDBERG: No, it is not the first time, but I will tell you this is my body and nobody, you know, you got people telling me that I’ve to wear a mask or don’t wear a mask or do this – Everybody wants to tell me what to do, but you won’t let me make my decision about my body! That decision is up to you! It’s me and my doctor who make the final decision.
One thing I want to emphasize before we leave is why abortion happened. This country’s women lived for a long time without abortion being legal. Okay? Okay? It was getting tiring to see women in public toilets and bathrooms giving birth because they had nowhere else.
Because people desired to be safe and clean, this law was born! This has absolutely nothing to do with religion. It’s not a religious matter! This is a human matter!
