Whoopi, Joy Lecture Media: You’re Underselling Biden’s Good News!

Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg were enthusiastic cheerleaders for President Biden on today’s The View. The hosts insisted the media wasn’t giving the Democrat president enough credit and Biden’s poor polling among Americans was a result of too harsh media coverage.

Like she did before Thanksgiving, Whoopi started off the show dutifully sharing her Biden administration-approved talking points touting all the great things he was doing for the country.

We are now left to wonder, “Is it?” The ViewAre you a state-run television station?

Biden just passed his historic infrastructure bill, which will be a huge benefit to all Americans. The Build Back Better plan also includes paid family leaves, universal PreK and other health care measures, such as paid family leave, universal PreK and health insurance that will lower the cost of insulin from $1,000 per month down to only 35 dollars. Yeah. It sounds great!” Whoopi cheered.

That was the reaction of shocked approbation from the audience. They don’t know President Biden now takes credit for an executive Order President Trump signed in 2020.

President Trump took actions to lower drug costs in 2019 and the media bashed him for it, but now that Biden’s in office, it’s suddenly great news. In 2020, it was President Trump who lowered the costs of insulin to 35 bucks a month, and President Biden who put a freeze on that low cost when he came into office.

The facts, however, are not readily available The View. Which is obvious considering Whoopi’s next point she made, that the media wasn’t praising Biden enough:

The question I have is: Why don’t people hear good news about a positive change? Or are we so addicted people bashing that it’s hard to recognize the positive things meant for us? ‘Like, oh my God, is he going to blow up the world?’ What do you think? Do you think that is what we should hear when there’s something positive happening?” she questioned.

Co-host Sunny Hostin was less enthusiastic than she was in weeks previously, and voiced her complaints from the far left, that Biden wasn’t doing enough to help blacks. Joy Behar agreed that Trump was treated better by the media than Biden. Really?

One example from the Trump years of jobs reports headlines was chosen by her to show that she believed the media had biased towards Biden.

It was interesting, I know. It was something you said that the people don’t pick up on the positive stuff. The media doesn’t portray him as a winner.  So for example — [ applause ] For example, I have an example of that. So when the jobs reports came out last week, an, NPR — they were both over 200,000 people when Trump was in, and when Biden is in. Both over 200,000 new jobs. There was a discrepancy, but approximately.

So, NPR, when Trump did it, this was the headline they ran. November jobs report — this is for Biden. I’m sorry — somewhat inarticulate right now. The jobs came out last week. NPR wrote this headline, ‘November jobs report is a bust.’ Okay? In 2019 during — prior to the pandemic, during Trump they ran, ‘job market surges as employers add so many jobs in November.’

They are minimizing what he is doing!” Behar complained.

But one less than enthusiastic headline doesn’t even come close to comparing to years of endlessly harsh, antagonistic media coverage from virtually every outlet .

Goldberg was very sympathetic of Biden. “He’s got a lot on his plate, and he’s been in nine months,” she stated before bizarrely claiming that she gave Trump credit his first nine months in office too.

“For me, you know, I’m on like I did with you-know-who. I want to wait and see what he does,” she stated. Again, really? Before he was even in office in October of 2016, Whoopi claimed Trump supporters were racist. Even more relevant to this discussion, she claimed the media was too soft on Trump, shortly after he won election.

But guest co-host, former Republican congresswoman Mia Love stated all the things Americans were unhappy about with the current administration’s leadership, from inflation to Afghanistan to the border. She pointed out how this wasn’t just her but the majority of Americans

“This is not just my opinion, right? Out of 70 Americans that rate the economy, 39% believe that the president is handling it incorrectly,” she hurriedly pointed out, but the other hosts were eager to shut her down. Behar quipped rudely, “Who are these people?” as the audience jeered.

“They’re Americans,” Love stated. And that flippant response from Behar perfectly illustrated the stark divide between the far-left View hosts and their audience compared to how the average American feels about this administration.

Still, Behar thought most people were on her side. “When the chips are down, Americans are going to understand that if Republicans take control of this country again, we are done as a country. Believe it!” she shouted.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: So President Biden recently passed his historic infrastructure bill that will benefit all Americans in many different ways, and his build back better plan includes things like paid family leave, universal Pre-K, and health care measures that will drop insulin prices from $1,000 a month to just 35 bucks. [ Applause ] Yeah. Sounds great. Apparently a post on slate.com claims you wouldn’t know it because Americans aren’t tuning in. I guess the question is, why don’t people want to hear the good news for a change or are we so addicted to people bashing that we don’t recognize good things that are meant to help us unless they’re in a package that isn’t hysterical? Like, oh my God, is he going to blow up the world? You know? Is that what we need to hear when something good is happening here?

GOLDBERG: Here’s the question. In having all these things he said he would do, and then getting in and realizing that he’s got to get shots in arms, he’s got to fix the gas situation, he’s got to figure out what to do at the border. He’s got a lot on his plate, and he’s been in nine months, and I — I just want to finish. For me, you know, I’m on like I did with you-know-who. I’m going to wait and see what he does, but the first nine months for me —

JOY BEHAR: You know, you said something interesting there. You said, you know, that people are not picking up on the good stuff. I believe that that’s because the media is not portraying him as a winner. For example, [ applause ]An example is provided by me. When the NPR jobs reports were released last week, they showed that there had been over 200,000 job openings when Trump was president and more than 200,000 when Biden became President. Both over 200,000 new jobs. However, there was an approximately discrepancy.

This was NPR’s headline when Trump made it. November jobs report — This is for Biden. Sorry, I am a bit inarticulate at the moment. Last week, the jobs were released. NPR wrote this headline, ‘November jobs report is a bust.’ Okay? In 2019 during — prior to the pandemic, during Trump they ran, ‘job market surges as employers add so many jobs in November.’ They are minimizing what he is doing!

MIA LOVE:  It is easy to be a leader when things are going well, and it is difficult to be a leader when the crap hits the fan, but the reality is with all the promises that were made and not kept, with what’s happening at the border with immigrants, Afghanistan, all of the things happening —

BEHAR: He got us out of Afghanistan!

LOVE: Inflation going up, food prices, gas prices, all of those things, the American people — the messaging is not getting to the American people. This is how I’m going to relieve you. This is how things are going to work. This is how I’m going to help. [cross-talk] This is not just my opinion, right? Out of 70 Americans that rate the economy, 39% believe that the president is handling it incorrectly. 34% —

BEHAR: Who are those people?  [laughter/applause]

LOVE: They’re Americans. They’re Americans.

BEHAR: I believe — maybe I’m naive, but I believe —

[CROSS-TALK]

Americans will understand when the chips are down that Republicans can take back control of this nation again if they lose it. [applause] We are done. It is possible to believe it. [ applause ]
