The White House had been considering the implications of closing down Line 5 in Michigan, according to our report.
It is absurd that the Administration would consider shutting down another pipeline at a time where gas prices have soared and people demand answers. As we noted, this isn’t shutting down a prospective pipeline — this would be shutting down a pipeline that provides more than half the propane used for heating in northern Michigan. Line 5 was established in the 1950s. It is the largest energy supplier for Michigan and its region. It transports oil from Canada’s western coast across the Great Lakes and Michigan to Ontario.
But when White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about it by Fox’s Peter Doocy, initially she denied the report as “inaccurate.”
DOOCY: Is the Administration studying the effects of closing down Line 5?

“So, Peter, that is inaccurate,” Jean-Pierre fired back. “That is not right. So any reporting indicating that some decision has been made, again, is not accurate.”
“What’s inaccurate?” Doocy asked.
“The reporting about us wanting to shut down the Line 5,” Jean-Pierre responded.
“I didn’t say ‘wanting,’” Doocy said. “I said, is it being studied right now? Are you analyzing the effects of closing down Line 5?
“Yes, we are. We are,” Jean-Pierre replied. “I thought you were saying that we were going to shut it down, but that is not inaccurate. The Army Corps of Engineers is preparing an environmental impact to look through this.”
So they’re playing word games and you have to press them to get the right answer when they should just be straight about it all. It is absurd to think of such an idea, especially in a period when prices are rising and it may also create international problems through Canada’s opposition. This makes absolutely no sense.
Jean-Pierre stated that they don’t know what to do about the rise in gas prices, and added nonsensical actions like those. But don’t worry, they’re “monitoring it” although they “don’t have anything” yet.

That’s so reassuring that they’re monitoring it while looking into cutting more pipelines. Are they too high?
We might believe so if we look at Jennifer Granholm’s response. When she was asked about rising gasoline prices, Granholm laughed it off. “HAHAHAHA — That is hilarious!” she said.

This is the leadership we now have in Washington — bereft of all sense.
