Laura Ingraham Says ‘Demographic Changes’ are Destroying the America ‘We Know and Love’

“The America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore.”

Fox News host Laura Ingraham said on Wednesday during “The Ingraham Angle” that the “America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore” due to “demographic changes.”

“In some parts of the country, it does seem like the America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore,” Ingraham said. “Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people.”

Various Twitter pundits criticized Ingraham for her remarks, characterizing them as “racist” and “xenophobic.”

Anti-Defamation League fellow Mark Pitcavage noted that prominent white supremacists David Duke and Patrick Casey praised Ingraham’s monologue.

A few conservatives upbraided Ingraham, including CNN host S.E. Cupp who described Ingraham’s monologue as part of the “last gasp of a dying [generation].”

Immigration has become a divisive issue between Republicans and Democrats, with Republicans supporting more hard-line policies.

Poll results suggest Ingraham’s stance is reflective of how Republicans generally feel about immigration.

According to a June Quinnipiac poll, 77 percent of Republicans supported building a US-Mexico border wall, compared to only 9 percent of Democrats. Furthermore, 62 percent of Republicans said Trump was “acting appropriately” in deporting immigrants who are in the US illegally, compared to 86 percent of Democrats who said he was “too aggressive.”

According to the Quinnipiac Poll, 55 percent of Republicans supported Trump’s family separation policy, compared to 91 percent of Democrats who opposed it.

These surveys illuminate a stark ideological difference between Democrats and Republicans, especially when compared to the platform of more progressive Democrats such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who have called to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement altogether.
