US Intelligence Targets Right-Leaning Site for Wrong-Think on Russia – Opinion

Is it possible to get anonymously sourced news via the Associated Press from the intelligence community? US intelligence officials informed the news organization about Zero Hedge’s alleged sharing of news stories about Ukraine from Russia.

As is our customary arrangement, these accusations can only be directed in the one direction. Toward right-wing figures or outlets. Intel is as organized as Fort Knox in the matter of left-leaning issues.

U.S intelligence officers on Tuesday charged a conservative website for financial news with significant American readers of amplifying Kremlin propaganda. They also alleged that five outlets which target Ukrainians were following Russian instructions.

Officials claimed Zero Hedge had 1.2million Twitter followers and published articles by Moscow-controlled media. These articles were later shared by outlets, unaware of their connection to Russian intelligence. They did not claim that Zero Hedge had any connections to Russia and they did not comment on whether Zero Hedge knew.

Zero Hedge denied the claims and said it tries to “publish a wide spectrum of views that cover both sides of a given story.” In a response posted online Tuesday morning, the website said it “has never worked, collaborated or cooperated with Russia, nor are there any links to spy agencies.”

The officials informed The Associated Press about the conditions of anonymity for discussing sensitive intelligence sources.

They are very vague, if you look into them. Zero Hedge, according to anonymous employees, published some pieces from writers associated with the Strategic Culture Foundation. This is why it matters. Well, it doesn’t, unless you also believe the allegations that the foundation in question is being directed by Russian intelligence.

How much evidence is there to prove this is true? There isn’t any, or at least none is shared by the AP’s sources. As it is, this is the way that things always go. It is not uncommon for anonymous sources to make wild claims, without supporting evidence, and the targeted party is then left with the task of defending itself against an assertion that has never been proven.

What was Zero Hedge’s terrible Russian propaganda? They published articles claiming that the Biden administration exaggerated the danger of Russia invading Ukraine.

The Biden administration, however It has fomented panic regarding Ukraine, to the point where even the Ukrainians themselves have had to essentially say “calm down bro” to Biden and his cohorts. In the past month, how many times has the White House implied that an invasion would be imminent in a matter of hours or days. How many times have they used the word “imminent” to describe a Russian incursion?

As things stand today, there’s already talk of the situation deescalating. So how was it “misinformation” for Zero Hedge to publish articles that supposed what…actually seems to be happening?

Still, let’s say that these intelligence officials are correct and that Zero Hedge posted some articles, unknowingly, from people connected to Russia. So, what? This is, according to my last check, a country that was founded on freedom of speech. Is it right for the government target news media outlets because they publish certain content? Additionally, if it is such a desperate situation, why would these officials run to illegally leaked classified information to AP about the same?

It is absurd to say that Zero Hedge was accused of publishing materials against Hunter Biden. The horror! This is what most people understand. Left-wing hackers are abundant in the intelligence community, willing to violate the law to attack anyone who is on the right. We’ve seen it happen time and time again. That they ran to a left-leaning news outlet to push this story is just proof that it’s all political.
