Twitter Censors Joe Rogan Video Defending Second Amendment

Joe Rogan of The Joe Rogan Experience warned that America’s legacy of gun violence is a “mental health problem disguised as a gun problem” and that the U.S. government needs to be held in check. Twitter removed a tweeter who posted a video of himself making that statement.

Twitter appears to have suspended an account after a video of Rogan attacking the liberal narrative regarding gun violence in America was shared. “I wrote this thing once where I said ‘This country has a mental health problem disguised as a gun problem,’ and that’s what it is,” Rogan said.

Rogan further warned the American government against tyranny. He suggested surrendering firearms to keep authoritarianism under control would make things worse.

“I dont think it’s wise to take the guns away from the people and leave all the power to the government. Even with an armoured populace, we can see the problems they face. They still have a tendency towards totalitarianism, and the more increased power and control you have over people, the easier it is for them to do what they do, and there’s a natural inclination when you are a person in power to try to hold more power and acquire more power, and it’s never–there’s never an inclination to give more power back to the people, to give more freedoms back to the people.”

Dan Gainor, Conservative commentator and ex-MRC employee, is now an independent blogger. shared the tweet of the clip before the underlying tweet was purged, observing that it contained “48 seconds on why @joerogan is so popular and so important.”

Twitter did not respond to a request for clarification from the Media Research Center.

But Twitter can’t hold back the tide of Rogan’s words.

The House Judiciary GOPAccount and journalist Benny Johnson also shared a portion of the same clip, as Johnson reiterated Rogan’s perspective: “Joe Rogan warns against gun control: ‘freedoms lost are rarely regained.’”

Rogan related that in early 2013 he tweeted: “This country has a mental health problem disguised as a gun problem and a tyranny problem disguised as a security problem.” Later in the same threadHe seemed to be responding to other arguments by citing government oppression. “The fact that the skies above us will have 30,000 drones by the end of the decade, I would call that ‘tyranny,’” Rogan tweeted. Rogan also made comments on the growth of the surveillance state “building a facility to record every phone call and email every US citizen sends and receives.”
