Turns out President Biden Is Just Fine With Defunding the Police – Opinion

Remember how President Joe Biden, along with several of his Democratic allies, tried to distance himself from the “Defund the Police” movement? It seems that he may have been more open to the idea than previously stated. Anti-police activists who supported cutting the budgets of law enforcement across the nation have found the White House very supportive.

Fox News reported:

Despite maintaining public distance from the “defund the police” movement, President Biden’s administration has quietly maintained relationships with some of the driving forces behind the far-left movement, White House visitor logs reviewed by Fox News Digital show.

White House visitor logs reveal that many defunding the police activists visited the Biden White House, where they met top aides in the past year.

That’s right. Biden tried to distinguish himself from more extreme elements of the Democratic Party on many occasions, but his administration quietly indulged them. They have even been appointed to high-ranking White House positions.

Rashad Robinson is the head of Color of Change. This far-left activist group was invited to the White House by Cedric Virginia, who at the time was a senior adviser to the president. Since then, he was forced to resign from his post.

Color of Change was one of the more prominent groups advocating for the slashing of police budgets after the murder of George Floyd – especially in Minneapolis. In a 2020 tweet, Robinson argued for cutting New York’s police budget:

“Defunding the police isn’t just about reducing harm from the police. It’s about ensuring other parts of the community aren’t starved for funds. A step in the right direction – but make no mistake, this barely makes a dent in the NYPD’s $6 billion budget.”

Biden’s White House also had a visit from a member of the Marguerite Casey Foundation, another far-leftist anti-police organization. Carmen Rojas is the president and chief executive officer of this group. She has long been an outspoken advocate for defunding police. She met with Nia Page, Richmond’s special assistant, at the White House in December 2021. She tweeted this in April last year:

“So many people are twisting themselves into word pretzels. They say we need justice in one breathe & not all police are bad in the next. It is essential that we remain committed to our freedom. Defunding police forces and supporting abolition is the best way to achieve it. Period.”

In their quest to reduce police budgets, this group went further than any others. The group “has also awarded millions of dollars to woke college professors and scholars who have advocated for abolishing prisons and teaching anti-Capitalist views.”

Latosha, co-founder and leader of Black Voters Matter has also been invited to speak at the White House. Fox News

According to the White House visitor logs, her contact person in July 2021 was Vincent Evans, who worked in Vice President Harris’s office before leaving to be the executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC).

The report lists several other high-profile individuals who supported the “Defund the Police” movement. This development flies in the face of Biden’s insistence that he takes a more moderate approach to dealing with crime. Biden called upon states to provide stimulus funding for law enforcement agencies to counter criticism from the left. However, it appears he isn’t as gung-ho about being tough on crime as he would like us to believe.

However, this isn’t surprising considering that Obama’s administration keeps wagging its finger at far-left progressives in the Democratic Party. These people continue to attack police despite not being popular with their policies. The White House needs to make sure that people believe they are serious about crime. However, will the White House make a change after these elections are finished?
