According to White House. Joe Biden intends to save the earth by turning the federal bureaucracy completely green. Biden signed an Executive Order that presented an ambitious plan to turn the federal government to 100% “net-zero” emissions by 2050. Below are the points.
- CFE will provide 100 percent clean, pollution-free electricity by 2030. At least 50% of this energy source will be localized to supply the necessary power for 24 hour operation.
- Acquire 100 percent zero emissions vehicles (ZEV) before 2035.
- No net emissions from federal procurement after 2050. This includes a Buy Clean Policy to encourage the use of materials that emit lower levels of embodied carbon.
- Net-zero emissions portfolio building, by 2045. This includes a 50% reduction of emissions by 2032.
- By 2050, net-zero emissions will be achieved from all federal activities. This includes a 65% reduction in emissions by 2030.
Much like the Build Back Better lie that it’s a “net-zero” on the debt, this “net-zero emissions” whopper is rhetorical sleight-of-hand and in a word, impossible.
Jen Psaki might be asked by someone at the White House Press Corp how the federal government can go completely green in 30 years. The DOD is the largest consumer of fossil fuels. Some ships are powered by nuclear, while others like the Makin Island ship are hybrids. But in combat conditions hybrids such as those of the Makin can switch to gas. While static domestic bases may be able to pull power from solar grids, once there are combat conditions overseas, it is impossible for them to use fossil fuel as an alternative energy source. However, forward operating bases can use solar in good weather and at night.
Time Magazine published an article from Obama’s Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus. It was under Mabus’ watch that the Navy commissioned the USS Harvey Milk, (an oiler). Named after Milk, a Navy ship was chosen for political reasons. Although Milk is portrayed as a homosexual hero in Hollywood, Milk was actually a sexual predator who ate underage boys. Paula Neira broke the champagne across Milk’s bow. Paula was once Paula.
Long before being appointed Secretary of the Navy Mabus’ naval experience was as an LtJG on the Light Cruiser Little Rock. The ship crashed into a Greek warship. It was out of service for six months in Boston harbour. This, it seems, allowed Mabus to serve as Navy Secretary under Obama, and offer his opinions about turning the US Military green.
His November 13, 2020 article stated that the military had to embrace the program. DOD should be different. Mabus claimed that he “moved aggressively to get the Navy and Marines off fossil fuels”.
“That’s a bold strategy Cotton”. Ray. The initiative to “green” ashore facilities started under Bush. That is something he never mentioned. He also doesn’t mention that the Navy and combat Marines are never getting “Take off” fossil fuels. The majority of energy consumption by Navy ships in carrier groups that aren’t carriers burn fossil fuel. Each aircraft that is driven by Navy or Marines aviators, as well as those in the Air Force or Army, uses jet fuel. High-performance aircraft require jet fuel.
Mabus claimed also that SEALs and Marines have solar panels for power generation instead of using batteries. He wrote:
Marines can now make a lot of energy where they’re deployed by using solar and wind power. Just having rollable solar panels to put into their packs saves a Marine company 700 pounds of batteries which they don’t have to carry and don’t need to be resupplied. Our SEAL team members can generate energy and water from wherever they happen to be without the need for additional supplies. This makes them more effective at what they do.
My son was adamant about the claim. He served most of his Navy career as a SEAL while Mabus was the Navy Secretary and said of Mabus’ claim: “it’s bullshit”. Batteries are required to provide the power needed for radios that can be carried in combat. “No way the energy needed for radios are coming from rolled-up solar panels”.
Kamala Harris made the same claim last May to midshipmen in Annapolis. With the following address, she addressed Marines as well as future sailors and Marines:
“Ask any Marine today, would she rather carry 20 lbs of batteries or a rolled-up solar panel, and I am positive she would tell you, a solar panel… and so would he” (cackle, cackle cackle)
Madam Vice President! They don’t have to survive. Night is when the sun sets. The solar collection is impeded by trees, mountains, storms, dust, and hills. Any combat patrol will include backup batteries now and in the future.
Joe Biden can sign Executive Orders that project the Department of Defense with “net-zero emission” by 2050, but it’s a fantasy. It’s no more attainable than a time-traveling DeLorean or an F-35 at a Tesla charging station.
Mabus thinks going green will make soldiers “better at their jobs”. How? How?
