Less than twenty-four hours since pseudo comedian Stephen Colbert attempted to make light of his staff breaking into the United States Capitol building in a hypocritical attempt to film a “comedy” skit attacking Republicans for the January 6 riots, Fox News host Tucker Carlson slammed Colbert for his hypocrisy.
“So how is what Stephen Colbert did different from what the protesters on January 6 have been convicted of doing?” Carlson rhetorically asked. “His conclusion well, unlike Trump voters, Stephen Colbert’s a very good person, therefore, any comparison to Trump voters is not simply ridiculous, it is a moral crime.”
Carlson then aired Colbert making excuses for his staff’s illegal behavior and attempted to deflect:
This is why the TV talkers sound so predictable. They are interested in talking about other topics than the Jan 6 hearings regarding the true seditionist revolt that saw multiple deaths and injured over 140 officers. It is shameful to draw any comparison between the rioters who stormed our Capitol to stop the count of electoral votes and the cigar-chewing toy that did it, and to insult the memory of all those who were killed. This trivializes in a shocking way the sacrifices made by the Capitol Hill Police that awful day.
“Yeah. It was a toy puppy. It’s shameful” Carlson said sarcastically.
“In other words” Carlson continued. “When you criticize me you’re really criticizing the brave Capitol Hill Police officers who arrested the people who work for me, the ones who committed the crimes I asked them to commit and I, for one, will not stand for that.”
Carlson noted that Colbert’s deflections and blameshifting is a “masters class on whiny rich liberal self-righteousness. It’s a distillation of a worldview that’s so concise and so perfect it’s certain to be studied by cultural historians of the future seeking to understand how our civilization collapsed.”
Continuing to interpret Colbert’s comments into reality, Carlson proclaimed “not only am I not sorry, you’re the criminal for bringing it up. Stop hitting me he screams as he punches you in the face.”
Carlson then asked rhetorically, if Colbert was really funny. And after playing a montage of his supposed comedy skits, he concluded what Colbert does “isn’t comedy, it’s a very sad midlife crisis but more than that it’s information war being waged against television viewers on behalf of the Democratic Party.”

Eastern, 8:03:47TUCKER CARLSON – How are Stephen Colbert’s actions different from the ones that were committed by January 6th protesters? This is a good question. Colbert was pondering it over the weekend. Well, his conclusion is that Stephen Colbert, contrary to Trump voters, is a very smart person. Any comparison to Trump voters would be absurd. Watch.

STEPHEN COLBERT: This is why the TV talkers sound so predictable. They would like to discuss something else than the January 6 hearings about the actual insurrection against sedition that saw multiple deaths and injuries, as well as the over 140 officers who were injured. It is shameful to draw any comparison between the rioters who stormed our Capitol to stop the count of electoral votes and the cigar-chomping toy that did it, and to insult the memory of all those who were killed. This trivializes in a shocking way the sacrifices made by the Capitol Hill Police that awful day.

CARLSON: Yeah. The toy dog was it. It’s shameful. It’s shameful. This is what he said. What you see isn’t much to explain. Instead, it’s a master’s class on whiny rich liberal self-righteousness. It’s a distillation of a worldview that’s so concise and so perfect it’s certain to be studied by cultural historians of the future seeking to understand how our civilization collapsed. It’s not only that I don’t regret it, but you are also guilty of bringing this up. You should stop hitting me, he shouts and punches in your face.
This is passive aggression elevated to art-level. Colbert responds, “Shut up! I’m just a comedian and a dog owner, so you shouldn’t be critical of me.” The question is: Is Stephen Colbert really a comedian? Well, if you’re one of the relatively few people who still watches Stephen Colbert’s show on CBS, you’ll have to admit it is hard to tell. Stephen Colbert is akin to Karine Jean-Pierre, who often makes snarky remarks. His delivery of talking points is what the White House orders him to repeat. If you aren’t convinced, this is what the scene looks like.

It’s the story you thought about last night, even if you aren’t asleep. It’s America’s protest against George Floyd’s murder. Don’t believe the lie that they are lawless mobs. Most of the protests are peaceful.
There’s a simple if extremely difficult solution. The number of guns should be reduced. It has been done before, and it works. Russia’s invading Ukraine represents a humanitarian disaster, but it also marks a victory for humanity.

CARLSON – Get the vaxpeasants out of their way, give up your guns and support Ukraine. And remember, it’s Kyiv right now. It isn’t comedy. While it is sad about midlife, this information war on television viewers for the Democratic Party is more serious than just that. At least the White House press Secretary admits to it. Colbert hides his past job as comedian. All it was a joke. When people I don’t like break into the capitol it’s insurrection when we do it it’s sketch comedy.
