Never underestimate what Democrats are willing to do for Americans. Even if it means that they may inflict pain on Americans.
There’s doubtless no political opponent who Democrats want to do in more than President Donald Trump.
Even now, they’re still trying to hurt him however they can.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio sought to terminate any Trump-related contracts. He cited the Capitol Riot as an excuse to try to eliminate the contracts and reduce income for the Trump Organization. Two ice rinks are at issue: the Central Park Carousel in Manhattan and Trump Golf Links in Brooklyn. The Trump Organization earns approximately $17 million per year from the contracts.
Trump was the one who made New York’s Wollman Rink a successful venture. Trump also transformed the Whitestone Bridge area into a premier public golf course. The Trump Organization signed a contract for twenty years with the city.
Trump is fighting back now publicly. Today, Trump released a statement in which he specifically condemned the attack on the golf course.

Mayor Bloomberg, the ex-Mayor of New York City asked that I take an old scandal-ridden Bronx location, which had for 30 years been a financial disaster. The city was forced to close the site. Instead, I turned it into a Jack Nicklaus Signature-designed golf course, club house, and other amenities. This has created a lot of success and a beautiful showcase of beauty. To complete this project, I spent millions, including all cash. I was able to do it in record time, and I have invested millions. The amazing teamwork of so many individuals was instrumental in bringing this area back to life. This was an enormous version of Central Park’s Wollman Skating Rink, which I had saved years ago.
Now under Mayor De Blasio, he wants to CONFISCATE the project from me for no reason whatsoever, and terminate my long-term arrangement with the city—and to think I just opened a beautiful $10 million clubhouse. This course is a huge success and has earned rave reviews. It’s considered to be among the top ten public facilities in America. After all the hard work that was done and how much money spent, Mayor De Blasio is threatening to seize it. So unfair—this is what happens in Communist Countries, not in America!
Trump Organization has sued the city for violating the contract. “Mayor de Blasio had a pre-existing, politically-based predisposition to terminate Trump-related contracts, and the city used the events of January 6, 2021 as a pretext to do so,” the suit alleges , and they are moving to stop the city from cancelling the contracts.
This is, however, a backfiring for de Blasio in the big way as Democratic actions so often do.
The New York Post Editorial Board pointed out that there were serious problems with those de Blasio hired to manage the project.
“It doesn’t make sense,” the mayor admitted Monday, that City Hall effectively gave a homeless-shelter operator a contract to take over the golf course previously run by the Trump Organization. The issue hit the news because of CORE Services’ scandals, but the outfit also had no relevant experience — only the right political contacts.[….]
Ferry Point Links LLC, the newly created outfit that got the no-bid, 13-year Parks Department deal to take over the 18-hole Ferry Point links, is run by no less than CORE’s CEO, Jack Brown, and out of the same address, The City reports. He partnered with an out-of-town firm that does run golf courses, but the deal sure looks smelly now that he’s been exposed as using a web of for-profit firms to make big money off the nonprofit CORE, which pays him a salary of more than $1 million a year.
This just demonstrated how political all of this was.
New Yorkers will pay more to skate if the Wollman Rink is taken over by the same people that the city hired. “They told us we’d get a more responsible operator than Trump. This is more expensive than Trump,” Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer said.
Brewer also expressed concern that the new company may not “have any operational experience of any sort.” The company, Wollman Park Partners was formed less than a month before getting the contract, which raises more questions about how they came about getting the contract.
Finally, because The Trump Organization is contesting the city’s actions in court, it isn’t over with yet. Trump Organization wants a ban on new golf course contracts. If the court finds that the city improperly acted to end the contracts, then there’s a clause where they have to give Trump Organization $30 million in damages. Therefore, the Democrats attempt to seek political retribution may cost the city much.
