They’re Heading for a ‘Pretty Good Beating’ in Midterms – Opinion

We’ve been talking about a likely red wave coming in the midterms, and now Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is not holding back on what he thinks is going to happen in November.

On this week’s “Fox News Sunday,” McConnell said that he thought Republicans were going to take back both the House and the Senate because of how horrible Joe Biden has been on things like the economy and Afghanistan.

“[Biden’s] policies have not worked, beginning with the precipitous and ill-advised withdrawal from Afghanistan, which became kind of a metaphor for the incompetence that’s been on full display during this administration,” he said. “None of the policies they have pursued have worked out well.”

“The economy, the precipitous withdrawal from Afghanistan, the domestic energy issue we’ve already been discussing, crime, problems in public education – this administration has really got their hands full, and I think they’re headed toward a pretty good beating in the fall election,” McConnell continued.

McConnell stated that if Republicans are able to control the Senate, it would mean that Biden will have to be a moderate in order to win any legislation.

“Obviously, we’ll have to work with the administration to see what we can agree on,” McConnell said. “Biden ran as a moderate – if I’m the majority leader in the Senate and Kevin McCarthy is the speaker in the House, we’ll make sure Joe Biden is a moderate.”

According to a recent NBC poll, the GOP leads Democrats when it comes to who Americans want as Congressmen.

If Biden thought that he would gain anything by the way he has dealt with the war in Ukraine, that isn’t helping him either.

And with inflation persisting and Russia’s war on Ukraine stoking uncertainty, there are indications that public sentiment is getting worse, not better, posing a growing threat to Democrats’ already slim chances of holding onto Congress, they say.

Recent levels of consumer confidence at the University of Michigan reached their lowest level for almost eleven years. This was according to the widely-watched survey. A survey by the Associated Press/NORC found that nearly 70 percent believe the economy is in bad shape. CNBC also released a poll showing that 81 percent see a recession this year. Gallup revealed that Americans are now citing inflation top of their list as a major concern. This is the highest percentage since 1980.

“The big run-up in gas and food and home prices has really caused great hardship for many households,” said Richard Curtin, a veteran economist who has run the University of Michigan consumer survey since 1976. “And the Biden administration made a critical error in saying it would be transient and people should just tough it out. It wasn’t transient. A lot of people couldn’t just tough it out. This led to a huge loss of confidence. [President Joe Biden’s] policies.”

Mark Zandi, the chief economist at Moody’s, is saying it’s about as tough as he’s ever seen for the Democrats’ chances.

“Most Americans have never experienced high inflation like this, particularly on gas prices, and it has gotten everyone very upset,” he said. “Behavioral economics reveals that people hate inflation more than they love a low unemployment rate. The pandemic continues to color everything. People have been through the wringer.”

It looks as though Cocaine Mitch has made a very good investment in this instance. Americans are insane and know who to blame. They’re going to let that anger out at the ballot box. It isn’t just that they have bad policies too, it’s that they just don’t even care how much it hurts people in the process. We can see that from how they treat the border, and how they lied about inflation being transient — then that it was due to “Putin’s Price Hike.” They think that Americans who have been enduring this since last year are so stupid they can be tricked into believing that. That’s one of the things that is so offensive about the Biden Administration — the lies that they think we will accept.

But they’re about to get a big message in November; Americans have their number.
