There are three choices when it comes to addressing controversial events in American politics:
They can state their opinions honestly no matter what the political repercussions may be, or they can join the braying mobs because it’s the easier and more expedient thing to do.
The third option would be a little bit of both, which is where we find ourselves with newly-minted “View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who has been making Never Trump grifters super-envious of late considering all the attention she’s gotten in recent weeks with her predictable hot takes on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and her frequent appearances on CNN, where she is now in the coveted “political contributor” role that former seemingly principled Republicans sometimes take to once their lucrative gravy trains have come to a screeching halt.
Griffin was on CNN’s low-rated “New Day” program Tuesday morning alongside the show’s co-hosts and other guests, where the hot topic of the day was of course the FBI’s raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home Monday night.
To those who are well-familiar with how intelligence agencies have been politicized and weaponized over the last several decades, in particular over the last five years or so, the raid wasn’t shocking. However, it was their brazenness that really flung Republicans off the rails.
Farah was not. When she was asked about the raid by “New Day” co-host John Berman, Griffin fretted about how it was a “good day” for Trump and talked about how she was praying this was about more than just Trump “not complying with some archiving laws,” otherwise “DOJ just handed Donald Trump the Republican [nomination]and possibly the presidency. If it’s seen as some sort of massive overreach and not something incredibly serious [like something related to national security], this is a very good day for Donald Trump.”

JUST NOW: This, I hope, goes beyond not complying to some archiving law, or DOJ handed Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, and possibly the presidency.

Not mentioned in Farah’s remarks? There is no reason to be concerned about this raid not being pre-election moves.
Incredible. @Alyssafarah isn’t hoping the former President was raided for a trivial dispute over documents not because it would signal an unprecedented politicization and overreach by the DOJ and FBI. It might even help Donald Trump. https://t.co/zjbAVCLGcs

Just watch Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) gave on Rachel Maddow’s program on MSNBC Monday night, contrast it with what he said in January 2017 shortly before Trump took office about how the intelligence community was big mad at Donald Trump, noting they would take revenge accordingly.
““You take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you, so even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he’s being really dumb to do this,” Schumer statedIt was at that time.
As far as Griffin goes, I think she’s stating her “honest” opinion (about as “honest” as grifter’s opinion can be) in that her bigger concern is that this makes the potential path to the presidency in 2024 a lot easier for Trump,
